Recently there was a post about upper back development, and people were talking about the illusion of a large upper back with a smaller waist line. Well, thats what I’m asking help about. I can chizel the hell out of my ab area, but my “love handle” area is still lacking. I know spot training doesn’t help. I’ve been cleaning up my diet for the last 3 months, and still really haven’t seen any results with my “love handle” area. Information regarding my lifestyle and workout is that I’m basically bulking up, but bulking up cleanly. I’m trying to strictly follow the Massive eating articles I’ve read here on t-mag, but eating cleanly to not gain much fat. Workout 3-4 days / week. 1 hr really intense workouts. I do abs once a week. Ab workout consists of: 3 sets of roman chairs, 3 sets of cable pulldowns, and 2-3 sets of oblique cruches.

Don’t know if this is enough info, but if you need me to specify anything else, just ask. I’ll promptly reply since this is the only area in my body that I’ve having problems with. Thanks !!!
I hate to say it, but if you’re bulking up, the appearance of your abs shouldn’t be of primary importance right now. I know, I know; I hate it when they start to disappear, too. Just rest assured that they’re under there somewhere and you can bring out the six-pack when you want to. Bulking up and leaning out are two separate goals.
As for your ab routine, you might want to add in some hanging leg raises. Paul Chek and Coach Davies have both written some outstanding programs here at T-Mag that will really help your abs out a ton. I suggest Dragon Flags and Saxon Side Bends.
Finally, to ask for a new paragraph, type: “<”, then “P”, then “>” without the quotation marks.
Agree with Eric: bulking and leaning out are two completely different goals. Do one or the other. Another thing: remember this about bodyfat: first on, last off. Means if your waistline has been a problematic area for you always, means that fat in that area will be the last to say “good-bye”.
