Recurring Injury Involving Deadlifts

Everytime I deadlift heavy I get pain about 2 inches to the left of my spine almost directly above my glutes. Soon after my groin will start to ache as well. It usually lasts about 3 days. SPine and groin dont seem to act up on squats ever (I squat over 4 plat pain free, yet a deadlift 315 and over sparks the pain, rack deadlifting is less painful then from the floor) I stupidly really pushed myself on the deadlifts 2 days ago even though my body was telling me to stop.

I pushed through the lower back pain. I could barely walk to my car afterwards. Extreme back pain and pain running down my legs. Today the shooting leg pains are almost subsided but Im still hurting. I find it odd that such extreme pain subsides in less than a week. Does this sound like something that has to be fixed with surgery? Any ideas what the problem could be? I’d be depressed if I had to go under the knife and even more depressed if i could not deadlift anymore. Thanks for the help

NEVER EVER EVER MOVE THROUGH PAIN

  1. get your form checked
  2. when working out if there’s pain STOP
  • reduce load, speed, range of motion
  1. if none of that works, do some other move

  2. get a qualified coach to check your form

  3. start a mobility program like zhealth
(overview & options: begin to dig: What is Z-Health b2d Article index: what is it, reviews and more )

  4. if pain persists (a) check with your doc for any pathology and pending that (b) see a movement specialist
(why: begin to dig: A Movement Assessment: what is it and why should i have one? )
