at 145 i should be taking in 25g of P and 50g of C for my Recovery drink… thats according to .8g/kg for C and .4g/kg for P.
I train for about 90 mins so i should be sipping on one of these drinks during workout and slam a NEW one after workout, right?

I’m no expert, but why are you planning on drinking a “recovery” drink during exercise? That seems like a lot of sugar if you consume one after your workout as well. Drink water during your workout and save the recovery drink for what it’s designed for.

Yes, good.

Don’t really need the drink after workout, if you are eating a post-workout meal.
I’m one of those that likes to drink a shake during the workout. I sip water as well.
I think the idea is that you have one such “recovery drink” para-workout. You can split it up however you like before, during, and after workout. So if you use Surge, for example, you could take half a serving (1 scoop) sipped during your workout, and the other half when you’re done.
I did my internship at Tufts exercise physiology lab in Boston. One study was a NASA bedrest study in which subjects were laid up in bed and could not get up for any reason for one month. We carted them everywhere. We trained them, supine on a machine with band resistance. Upper and lower body every other day and rest on sunday.
They were given a pharmaceutical grade amino acid supplement (not average shit just the supplement for the study cost 13 grand). Anyway there where many groups that took the supplement. An immediatley exercise group an immediate post exercise group, a 1 hour post group and a during exercise group. Muscle biopsys where performed pre and post study.
The groups that performed the best where the immediate post and even better, the during exercise group. So this shows there is evidence to support supplementation during exercise, and that it has the POSSIBILITY to be superior to even PWO supplementation.

Just my opinion, good luck.

Your opinion is WRONG. Please do not share it again.

Just read the CW article and according to CW, my opinion was wrong. Like I said, I’m no expert. I’ll put money down that you didn’t know either prior to reading the article.
I wasn’t a dick, why were you? Relax “Law Man” and show some composure.

First, my apologies for being a “dick.” BUT… It’s clear from your post that you did not know what you were talking about. After all, the article I linked to was from 2001! (I knew about it, as I read T-Mag back when the site was nothing but a picture of Charles Poliquin.)
Why then did you give the kid advice? He might have been foolish enough to have followed it.
There are a few things I know a great deal about. When it comes to those topics, I will advise people. Most things I know nothing about. When it comes to those topics, I don’t say anything.

Since when is drinking water during a workout foolish? I drink water during my workouts and I have had great muscle gains.

Perhaps you should follow a similar habit.[/quote]
I re-read my initial post, and indeed, I was a dick. I am sorry about that. We are all “students” of this great subject and need to help each other out rather than insult one another. So, my bad!

Guys, this brought a smile to my face. To answer that famous question posed by Rodney… Why yes, we certainly can all get along!

I guess you could say the same for yourself. The article came out the same day you posted.
I’ve gained 40 good lbs since I’ve been working out. I guess water during my workouts really slowed me down.

Actually that is just the most recent article to recommend drinking a shake during the workout. That’s been a pretty common thing as long as I’ve been at this site (nearly 2 years now), and I think it started in 2001. It’s old news.

And what’s your point? That the OP didn’t research either? Good point then.
The bandwaggoners here need to quit acting like drinking a shake during a workout is the holy grail of working out.
Stop regurgitating other peoples posts. I’m sure the 145lb OP will make huge gains just by consuming his drink during his workout.

Don’t jump all over me, man. I was just making a point. I didn’t say anything about “holy grail” or anything, and I don’t think I regurgitated anything. But thanks for feeling the need to be a dick, for simply pointing out information I thought you might find interesting. I’ll remember not to try to help you.
