Recommend A Hypertrophy Program?

Can you recommend me a hypertrophy program? Something that worked for most guys and I will be able to ask questions and find some support if I need to?

I prefer big core exercises like DeadLift. I have some trouble with my form in Squat. I prefer 4 days per week, to take advantage of the pre/post wo anabolic drinks. I do the massive eating diet.

I train with weights for the last 3 years. I am 40 years old. My most reecent pictures are at [http://mazema.com/gym/photogaleryAugust2006.html]

For the last 1 year I follow Pavel’s programs. I increased my strength, but did not gain mass. Maybe I was not eating enough. So now I am on the mass eating diet and a new hypertrophy program. I can see my fat increase but not my muscles.

Thanks
Bob

all authors are good, but I recommend Chad Waterbury or Christian Thibedeau.

I second the recomendation of Waterbury and/or Thibadeau.

There is also a lot of info on rectifying problems with squatting. All of them are very good.

I just finished coach Staleys Pulling your chain workout and loved the gains I made. Simple and effective.

HST or Waterbury.

newbie, Waterbury…pretty much anything he does.

his hft article does a lot of what louie simmons uses but more in a bodybuilding sense.

i’d look at ‘dogcrapp’ training too.

Search “Mutation Series”

You can use one of the many great works on this site or you can develop a plan by yourself. If decide to design your own make sure your hitting your muscles more frequently than one time per week, use the big core movements like you’ve mentioned and add some size where you want or need it the most.

Shoot me a PM or email if you need any help.

Use CT’s principles! CT’s ideas are the best on this site for hypertrophy. Chad Waterbury probably has the best beginner programs and strength programs.

Try learning supersets and dropsets for hypertrophy. It’s pretty simple really. Heavy Compounds, Supersets/Dropsets, Periodization.

Look for HSS-100.

Search HSS-100

The Waterbury Method or Poliquin’s EDT

I workout intensley with weights for the last 3 years. This is how I look now. Is this considered beginner (I feel like this compared to the lifters that I see)? Should I try more advanced (like CT)?

I used supersets and heavily dropsets the first 2 years of training. Until I stalled. I had used no periodization.

Thanks

You look like you’ve done some training before. You would know better than me if you feel your advanced enough to try something out of the beginner level. I say go for it. You have a solid foundation there. Either Chad or CT will do fine I’m sure. Depends on your goals and what you’re looking to get out of it.

I still would reccomend CT. I really like his style, program set ups, and training philosophy. He is a big Gironda fan and so am I.

I would say find a hypertrophy regimen that suits you and use some periodization and you’re all set. follow CT’s guidelines. He’s right on the money. I’ve been training for years and getting results off of programs that he hasn’t wrote up yet… then he writes them up and i say to myself “that’ll work”.

I’ve already done similiar style of lifting to alot of his ideas. I read alot of Vince Gironda too. I can tell that’s who influences him. Vince is probably the best trainer ever… so you can’t be too wrong here.

Click on CT’s name and read thru some of his articles and you’ll get a good idea of what to do.

3 on 1 off split with 2 20-30minute workouts/day.

Day 1: Quads AM, Hams/Calves PM
Day 2: Chest AM, Bis/Tris PM
Day 3: Back AM, Shoulders PM
Day 4: off
REPEAT

Reps 4-12 range. Never ever go even within 1 rep of failure. Do at least 4 excercises of 4 sets each.

Why are you working out in a skirt?

If you’re an experienced lifter then I would recommend training each bodypart twice a week. You have to keep your nutrition and sleep spot on but I’ve been amazed at my success with the program.

These are the principles of the russian programs (like Pavel’s) that I workedout and studied the last 1 year. I like the “never gop to failure”, since I don’t have a regular spotter. But since I work, I cannot do 2 workouts per day.

It is a towel, not a skirt. It protects my shins.

When I do DeadLift, the barbel rubs against my shins, especially the left one. It hurts me, distructs me and tears off my pants.

I am going through Chad Waterbury’s articles, until I decide on one of his programs.
