Rebuilding after Hernia Surgery

Post surgery exercise plan. Since recovery requires limiting weight training to light weight for several weeks, I’ve been experimenting with using bands exclusively for a week or two, then gradually adding back machine exercises and heavier free weights with an emphasis on machines. Jeff Cavillere, as well as others, has a series on using bands. Any body with experience using bands for hypertrophy please advise (of course I welcome comments from anyone else too).

I had inguinal hernia about 15 years ago. I was back in the gym 2 or 3 days later. I took it easy for a couple weeks and was 100% in no time.

Me too. I was back in the gym in a week and back to heavy a week after that.

My surgeon told me I could begin lifting lightly after 2 weeks; out of my paranoia I went back to the gym after 4. It ironically hurt more benching with an arch or doing reverse hypers than squats or deadlifts.
