-Body triangle escapes today, escaping into single leg x.
-Good rolls thereafter, better framing and defence from me vs J. He got me in the end still with a choke. Tom (being a coloured belt) held back and let me work more defence, then with 15seconds to go nailed me in a triangle. But overall another positive session.
-this hex bar is old skool for sure @amaeland - has these weird rotating handles if you want ‘high handles’. I’ll have to take a snap of it at some stage.
I am glad you you enjoy your BJJ. I took Judo for awhile. I was not overwhelmed by it. Possibly because the instructor would get this funky look in his eye, and would tap you out in the first 15 seconds. I know, it builds character!
Yardio over the week - more tree trimming, rope swing back onto the tree for junior, washed 2x cars, playground visits with junior, car and ute maintenance, bit of gardening. 18k and 7k steps over the weekend. Great family time in there too.
Tulips coming in nicely, the ones on the LHS below already in bloom.
so many different types of bars it is very hard to have a standard weight. You can see from the photo below 4 very different trap bars, there are a few more in my gym that aren’t in this pic. All different shapes and sizes. So no real standard weight.

-I couldn’t find a pic of the one at work @simo74 need to just take the phone into a session to snap it. So many variations out there.
-stone wall I built a year or so ago thanks @Friedrich - we’re thankful to be in a nice spot in the Adelaide Hills, our neighbour across the way is retired but into her garden bit time. Means we get a lovely view beyond our front garden into hers. Gotta say though, bulbs are great. Set and forget! ha. Our front garden needs a heap more plants though, maybe this spring!
Makes sense @simo74. I have been considering the cheap, small type of hex bar you see on the right in that photo. Is it too tight for doing farmer’s carries with do you think?
-Escaping side control into triangles. Really working the hip movements - and now I’m feeling those hip muscles… in a good way. Rolls at the end all side control specific, escape it whilst opponent tries to get to mount or back or submission. Good rolls.

-BW 65kg steady this am (upon waking)
-work gym… 4 people = a crowd. I’ve yet to see anyone else use the squat rack though so that’s a win.
-Introduction to heel locks - can’t use them as beginners/white belts but good to know how to apply and how it feels copping one.
-solid rolls today thereafter. Tapped twice to J but felt better against a larger opponent. N and I another nil all draw but held mount for ages, bit of back control too. Generally in control but couldn’t get a submission. Escaped a good counter headlock too then timer ran out… Even got to roll with the Coach today - that was superb. He went slow and steady, threw a few tips in during, I snuck a quick transition to single leg X on him to his suprise. Super valuable getting mat time with the Coach imo. He reckon’s at this pace/level it shouldn’t hurt his recovery given other training etc. @burien_top_team
-Very enjoyable session.
-given there’s only a handful of people that seem to use it I’ll make the most of it for sure thanks @Friedrich@simo74@TM79@ChickenLittle
