yeah I can see ur point. I just think interrupting someone during their workout is disrespectful. My point was during workouts I hate getting asked questions. outside of the gym I wouldnt mind answering some questions.[/quote]
see, the thing is, you presented yourself as much more than irritated. and you made a post about something that a lot of us have experienced in the gym. we already know about it.
its a gym. you will have untrained people in there trying to get their start, and people that act like you are exactly why so many people are intimitated by commercial gyms.
additionally, calling his goals and current abilities as “weakling” or whatever is just immature. give the guy a break. he came up to you cause you seemed like you knew what you were doing, and you shut him down. WTF?
seriously, i dislike getting caught in the middle of a set as much as the next guy, but i handle it differently. let me show you:
random guy: “hey man, how much do you bench?”
me: “____lbs, why?”
rg: “well i want to achieve this goal for this reason, blah, blah”
me: “hold on a sec”
(i go finish my set)
me: “do you wanna work in with me? ill tell you as much as i know”
rg: “uh, nah, i gotta finish my workout over here”
me: “cool, look for me when you’re done, i’ll give you some advice and point you in the right direction”
rg: “ok, thanks”
now whether or not he shows up is his own thing, but I will almost always take the time to help someone out. I just don’t understand the whole “im a big badass, don’t talk to me little people” attitude at the gym. if you don’t want to talk, just tell them that you’re in the middle of you’re not certified or whatever, and you fell uncomfortable giving advice, give them this website, and tell them to read the articles.
