When I’m doing heavy rack pulls, is there anyway to make the impact of lowering the weight on the safety pins quieter? I tried putting some towels down on em, but thats not doin much. I try lowering the weight slowely, but it’s tough with the heavier weight. I just don’t wanna be that guy.
Most people can rack pull a lot. So I say it’s okay to be “that guy” with all of those plates on the bar.
I did rack pulls today and was thinking the same thing about being that guy. But I said F it…I’m want to be bigger and stronger than everyone else in my gym and not be MR chest-n-biceps so I did em loud anyways
just do it and tell anyone who has a problem with it to F off and go do there pink db curls
Dooley noted, guys! LOL.
Its a gym! Not a ballet class! Noise is gonna be made, who cares! If people want to go to a quiet gym show them the door, and give them a sneaky kick up the ass on the way out (",)

Well, I agree with your first statement, but I’m not big on telling others to “F off” regardless of what they say.
Like others have said, you’re there to get stronger and bigger. If anyone thinks that this isn’t going to involve you making any noise, then they obviously have no idea what it takes to get considerably bigger and stronger.
You could always just ask them to demonstrate to you how to do it right. If they say they can’t, then just say “well then don’t tell me how I’m doing it wrong”. If they can do it, then start training with them immediately.

you are right. I was exaggerating. just trying to pass the mental attitude of not caring if other people think what you are doing is stupid. did not mean it literally

So I should quit wearing my tutu when I pound the iron?

If its pink you can still wear it…if not no way.
come to think of it…doesn’t Cressey say deadlifting in ballet shoes is good?

Deadlifting Footwear
“Thou shalt not deadlift in cross-trainers” is actually the first commandment in the powerlifter’s bible. You have four options:
-
Go barefoot
-
Wear Chuck Taylors (Converse All-stars)
-
Wear wrestling shoes
-
Wear ballet slippers[/quote]
Anyone who’s got the swinging heavies to lift in a gym wearing a tutu is alright in my book haha. When you are done deadlifting you can simply raise the bar up in the power rack and start doing your bar work for ballet.
Take the squat pads and put them on the safety bars where the bars will be when you deadlift (you will need two of them). It is about all the pads are good for (they will get a little crushed from the exercise), but it will greatly reduce the noise. Works great for rack presses as well.
