Rack lockouts/partials

Has this been covered before? my bad if it has.
My goal is to do 4 45’s a side on bench (405 lbs), I can now do 315 a few times … like 3 or 4, for an experiment I set up the 405 at the squat cage to fell what 405 was like… I could move it at the top of the press about 3 inches but holy cr*p its heavy (to me), also I notice I could only move it if my form was perfectly in the pocket, very instructive

Are partials/lockouts useful and if so how often etc.?

I would use them periodically when I tried the westside system. I did them as a max effort exercise, and would vary the lockout distance. They can be very benficial as part of an overall program, and a good pyschological boost. I would use them one time per week for two weeks then come back in about two months. If you read Louie’s stuff, you’ll see that they change max effort exercises after 1- 3 workouts.
