Nice challenge, should’ve really hit this a while back if it wasn’t for illness.
Here’s a video from my debut comp, just a little deadlift meet I did for charity. Failed the 601lb pull ![]()

I’ve been training for 2 years.
Hit a 440x1 SSB Box Squat (with 2 second pause on box and no wraps) today.
I know I’m late and weak but I’m in as well. Right now my raw DL is 500+/- depending on the day and my raw squat is worse, I haven’t 1 RM’ed it in awhile but after reading TRTblaster’s posts I may just drop the bar further down my back (ankle fusion so I have no ankle mobility). My goal is to hit the DL in August in Ithaca, NY at the UPA meet there and the Squat sometime before I turn 50 (although I am shooting for 500 in August for that) so I can get a raw 1550-1600 total. I will post videos of all my epic fails on the way.
Welcome aboard Brian!
I hope to pull 600 in Aug. I pulled 562 in May with a 507 squat. Both unequiped at a 275BW
575x1 9 inch block pull last night and missed 605 after a serious struggle…
I am totally in! I got crappy pull but my squat is nearing the mid 500s. Competition in just under 1 month that I will be hittin 250kg in! Hope to pull 230kg. I lift IPF 83kg
I posted in another thread but I hit a 605 on 5/31/11. 15 pound pr. Tomorrow I test . I’m going for 625 then more .
Nice pull MM - looked comfortable.
Most Major: very nice pull…you looked like you have 600 already…you could definitely pull it off the floor, and I think you’ve got the lockout too!
How do you stay down with your legs bent so long before pulling man? If I tried that, I think I would have to go sit down and rest before my pull attempt hahaha
#562 Dead lift in May.
Maybe this time…

Thanks. Missed the attempt before, so had to make this one.

Thanks. I did 595 in the gym before the meet, but had trouble with the lockout. I’ll be going for 600+ in my next meet, which happens to be in about 3 weeks. Staying down isn’t a problem for me, sumo stance works well because my hips are pretty flexible. What I do have a problem with is arching my low back enough so that the bar doesn’t get out in front of me.
I hit 500, 530, and then 550x1 on deadlift tonight, a 25 pound PR for me. Not sure I’ll make 600 by the end of the summer like I wanted, but very happy with the progress I’ve made so far. Conventional style, raw lift - 225 body weight.
I am struggling mightily but here are my most recent lifts:
Deads- worked up to 535 for a triple ( recent history PR)
Squats- 385 x2 + Gray Bands (I never do more than 2 on squat due to form breakdown issues) 445x2 (no bands)

Have you tried rolling the bar to you and pulling yourself into position at the same time?

I haven’t ever tried the rolling bar trick, do you feel like you get in better position with it? I’ll give it a shot next lower body day. Guess I’d be concerned that I’ll lose tightness at the start.
