Race to 500 Squat & DL

Keen ta get in on this if I can, just for that extra little bit of competition !!

Current Stats: 18 years old, Just started training for Powerlifting, been training about a year prior to this, 1st Comp on 23rd of April
Squat: 160kg (352.7lbs)
Bench: 110kg (242.5lbs) (Just started training with a pause, hopefully improve a lot)
Deadlift: 195kg (429.9lbs)

Currently weighing 87kg (191.9lbs) and 1.81m (5’11")
All Raw lifts, hoping for some bigger numbers come April, will take awhile to get to 500lbs on Squat I think, my fault for neglecting leg training for so long…

Update from workout yesterday !!

New Dealift Pr, 200kg (440lbs), came up nicely, tried 210kg (462lbs), got it off the floor, afterwards felt like I would have got it but psyched myself out of it, definitely wanna have that in the bag by competition time !!
Got a Squat day tomorrow, will probs keep reps higher (around 5) so I’ll start dropping that as competition comes closer, hopefully crack 400lbs by the time competition come though like 405lbs which is 180kg would be nice haha.

Hit 525 rev band (avg bands) yesterday in the gym. Almost had 545 but got stuck a bit and had a slight amount of help from spotter.

I’ll jump in for the squat portion. My PR right now is 210kg with no belt, looking for 485 at my next meet and 500 in the near future.

Just hit a nice deep 480 oly stance, belt and sleeves. Will be trying 500 in 4 weeks

I was the Original Poster - Ordered from T-Nation and my account went all screwy !

So anyway moving on

Standing at 492.5lb Squat - Going for 500lb on Monday

Will get my friend to video it - so here’s hoping I do it ! Tried it last Monday and went down - had to bail so I know it’s in me.

Currently moved DL out so thats on hold, want to improve my Bench to 300lb in time for May PL Meet currently at 230lb

Good lifting to all.

Been following this thread, want to reach these goals as well.

Current stats:

1RM (just did these singles after doing some heavy reps)
Squat: 435x1
Deadlift: 475x1

Rep PRs:
Squat: 415x5
Deadlift:455x5

Currently running 5/3/1, so I’m hoping to reach 500 for both lifts this year. I definitely need to bring up my grip strength, currently hitting the deads with straps. I don’t have much issue doing heavy weight for reps, but when it comes to doing 1RM, it’s a whole different story for me.

Done!

Nice Jakerz! I’m jealous of your monolift.

Update for me hit a 475 pre-meet/465 in-meet for squat.

Hit 485lbs in the gym today for 5/3/1 wk 3. By next cycle I should be able to get it given the volume that is done beforehand (i.e. set of 5, then set of 3, then 1 rep). My max for today was supposed to be 465 for one but decided to go for one more set.

Will video 500.

p.s. Damn you jakerz lol Pretty jelly here.

I’m in for both of these, about a 145 body weight. Current best squat is 380 and best deadlift is 435, both are at a meet.

Any comments are welcome.

I’m in for the deadlift. My squat is right at 500. My DL was 425 five weeks ago. I want to pull 450 when I max again in three weeks. My goal is for 500 for my first meet in June.

So I have noticed that the ratio between my deadlift and squat is quite different than most of you guys here(mainly my squat seems weak)

Currently -

425x1 deadlift
340x1 squat(1" below parallel )

Is this odd or within normal range? What does it mean if your squat is relatively weak compared to the deadlift. Maybe I just have a body for deadlifting ?

I’m on my fourth cycle of 5/3/1, before that I was doing WSFSB.

Your Squat will bring up your Deadlift so I would think if you can Squat it, you should be able to Deadlift it.

Deadlifts just below the knees & Squats should bring the DL up quite nicely.

Though my DL & Squat are pretty much neck and neck +10kg on my DL compared to Squat… So i could be wrong !

I may as well join this race too, my dead is nearly at the 500 already, but squat is only at 405 (belt and sleeves only)…

Mine are usually 60-90lb apart. Yes, I’m built well for pulling. When I was at that level (not too long ago), my squat was 345 and my DL was 435 and that’s from primarily training the squat.

I’m in. Been in gym for about 7 years now-more of a bodybuilder type of program. Just started training a powerlifting style around the first of the year. Sadly to say only been training lower body since the first of the year as well…I know…sad. Plan on entering my first competition in end of October, but have a baby due at the same time so we’ll see.

33 years old
5’8" 203 lbs
Squat 1RM= 405
DL 1RM= 405
both as of 3 weeks ago

I just joined the race for the 400 lb bench and I am going to join this one too. I just pulled 455 on Saturday. I squatted 440 about 4 months ago and it has gone downhill since then. I think it has to do with my right knee, I squat down towards the left to protect it. I am going to do box squats for the next phase and see if it improves.

Hit 475 yesterday, getting closer to 500

I’m pretty sure you already have a 500+ squat, once you get used to the belt again.
