is this still open to new members, i’m at 475 right now… i can taste it
Keep working you will get it by then for sure. Pull raw as possible though, I seemed to have made the most progress when I pulled without even a belt. I hit 515 when I was 16 about to turn 17. pulled 605 raw last week at 18
Just want to share my experience hitting 495.
I focused heavily on deep squats (which eventually fucked up my knee do to poor form), for about 2 months. Max squat in that time period went from ~375 to around 430 or so.
I had only pulled 445 or so prior to all the squatting.
I went in to the gym after not touching the dead lift for 2 months and pulled 475 then 495. That was a good day.
I’m shooting for 600 by the end of this year. Here’s 550. I’ve PR’d 570 since then. only 30 pounds to go!!!
Ironjoe, good poundage, but poor form. Hip rises alot before shoulders.

Nice lift, but why is it in this thread? Take off those straps you girlyman.
why do PLers talk shit about using straps when they use suits? i guess the straps lift all the weight. see what i did there?

Because the suit is allowed at meets, the straps aren’t, so according to the rules of the game, a lift with straps is not valid and therefore useless.

we’re not talking about a meet though, we’re talking about plain logic. and to me they arent all that different except one costs between 4 and $600 dollars less than the other.
and one doesnt take 25 minutes to put on either

Where do you buy a +600dollar suit? Well, logic is, that one of them is allowed at the place where you make the record, the other one isn’t, end of story.
And btw, the suit, that I use in training take me like 1-2min to put on.
are there any deadlift suits that people actually get a substantial (30+) amount of carryover out of?

No. Not for conventional anyway. And they certainly don’t take an age to put on if you can.
I wouldn’t worry tho, Live has displayed a lot of ignorance towards what powerlifting actually is over the last few days… He thought guys listed their numbers bench, squat, dead for example.
Feeling good on the 5/3/1, just pulled 330x6 off of a 3 inch deficit with smaller plates and a worse bar - my best convo for reps at college was 335x6.

Sorry, but that’s nonsense. I do conventional, and I can pull 230kg with SPEED in a loose Metal king sumo, and raw pull 220 with no grind, but certainly much less speed. It depends on whether you’re weak in the bottom of the lift or the top of it.

I’m talking kgs too, I think, that I get about 30kg carryover, and I know a guy, who attended the danish nationals this year and gets something like 50kg carryover.
I am sorry though, 30kg is not often seen, I just think it’s hard to figure out, whether people talk kg’s or lb’s when they don’t specify. Over here in Europe everybody use kg’s, I kind of thought, that you guys used lb.
Ill get in on this.
Age:19
Body Weight: 215
Im training for a NASA powerlifting meet in October, the goal is to pull over 560 to break the state record. I pulled 460 easy and had 520 a couple inches away from lock out and tried to fire my hips too late. Ill get 520 on the next ME deadlift day.
and just so we’re clear im talking pounds!

Are the state records really that low?
Anyhow, I don’t see what you’re saying about hiring the hips too late, that’s no problem, it’s firing them too early, that many people suffer from.

Are you referring to the one in OKC? If so, I’ll be in that one also. BW: 275. What part of Texas are you currently residing? I’m stationed at Sheppard AFB, TX in Wichita Falls, TX. We can talk off-line via the messaging if you prefer.
