Race to 315 Squat/Deadlift

got 265 for 5 on squat yesterday, i was feeling really unwell so i was happy i could still get some reps in.

Hit a very ugly 285.

295x16 hopeing to pull over 400 on my next max attempt

Well, I just worked deadlift for doubles and triples, and lost strength. Just like that. In past weeks, I worked harder than anyone else - straining, sweating, yelling, shaking, hurting for days afterward. Today was prepared to hoist record weights - and couldn’t get past 235 x 1. That was my max. Finally had to knock out 205 for 3. So it will be a lot longer to get to 315 than I planned. Estimate about 6 or 8 years.

Hey I was just wondering: sumo deadlifts and squats where the heels are on plates are acceptable right? I hit 245x10 yesterday for deads, putting my projected max at 330. Will put up a max vid soon.

I probably wouldn’t deadlift with a raised heel. But squatting with one is fine, I use adistar shoes which have an inbuilt 20mm heel.

125x6. Probably could have hit 7 or 8 but… I just didn’t. I pysched myself for 6, once I got 6 I racked it, then realised I should have kept going. That hasn’t happened before. Better not happen again!

I’ve done 358 (395 @ gym) deadlift and 315 squat 4 years ago but just getting back into lifting seriously now. Could probably get both after month or two of focusing on maxing, but I’m going to run 5/3/1 full body for at least 3 months before switching. We’ll see where that gets me. Squatting 3 times a week seems to be working at least, much better technique and mobility. Squats are done well below competition depth for now.

Best lifts right now:
Squat 220x8 (100 kg)
Deadlift 265x8 (120 kg)

See you at 315!

Was only able to crank out 8 reps of 227 yesterday, damn grip failed. so annoying! I had a couple more reps in the bank.
First week on 2nd cycle, 5/3/1.

Did squats a couple days ago, got 200 pounds with 13 reps. Frikkin’ killed me!

Deadlifted a bit over 340 last week, and managed 286 squatting yesterday ( my first proper 1rm attempt ), which felt like I could have done a bit more, so When I said give me until christmas I might have been a bit pessimistic :stuck_out_tongue:

These were all PRs, going by Wendler’s 1RM formula.

Chris, you and I are fairly close. Have you had an attempt at 300+ yet?

I haven’t. Before I reset my maxes I got 285x2, and I just reset my maxes around 2 months ago, so I won’t have a lift above 300 for quite a while. One of these days I may get impatient and just go for it though.

This cycle Im going to give the 3/5/1 for powerlifters a go. See how the singles work.

Hit 270x5 on Squats yesterday. Puts projected max right on 315. Probably won’t max out for a single though, so will wait until I can at least hit that for 3 before attempting it.

I hit 295 for a grinding single. I’m gonna back off and work my way back up.
Hopefully I can 315 in a couple weeks.

Hit a 355 on the DL, could have gone higher I think if I knew I was going to be going that heavy. I still have a lot of work to do on the squat though.

265 squat and 275 deadlift right now. Going to try my hardest to his 300 dl today, grip died last week and hopefully 280 squat on friday.

Lifting is back on track. Been stuffing meat down my throat and feel tons better. Deadlifted 215 for 7 and it was piece of cake. That’s sure to get me to 315.
