Yesterday I did my 5/5/5+ for 5/31 and Squatted 285 for 10 reps, felt good too. Then I “pyramided” back down. I’ve been doing that more with 5/3/1 lately where you ramp up to the last set (5/5/5+,3/3/3+,5/3/1+) and then ramping back down. It’s really seemed to help spark some growth for me in all my lifts. Hit a rep PR today on the OHP and my OHP development has been slow.
Trying to get my squat there currently at 135kg (297) need to get it up a lot higher think I can get to 143 (315) by the end of March and my front squat 120kg to 143kg by the end of June.

i’ll throw my hat in
305 x 5 today. Felt good especially when everyone else had the realization that they are just bullshitting after seeing some real intensity.
Oh yeah, lol @ the dude quarter squatting 315. That shit don’t count.
265x5 squat and 295x3 DL, so close!!

Nice man, that DL is very close. Doing 5/3/1? When is your 315 attempt?

Nope, Doing the Texas Method and it’s working GREAT. I recommend it to anyone after novice gains. I plan on going for 315 for 3 reps in 3 weeks ![]()
Just pwnd 230 for 3 squats and 205 for 3 bench
Needa get back onto a program and really go for this, kinda been just messing around for a couple weeks. Went to squat today and i was having some knee pain i think from some really tight muscles.
I had some stupid knee pain last week when I tried 225 for 3, and squatted anyway. After resting the weekend and going back to squats on monday, the pain went away. Your pretty jacked looking man I’m surprised you don’t have it already!

LOL if that was me and i didn’t have it already something would be wrong
Vid of my previous best dl, 495x1. Fri I did 480x1 off a srwp platform and at lockout, I heard the dreaded “pop” in my left bicep, it was time for a deload anyway. Woke today with a little pain, but no major issue (like bicep rolling up into delt), thankfully. Good Luck everyone, train hard & heavy!

That looked pretty solid, almost effortless; nice job. Sorry you have to deal with hex plates. LOL
I can’t wait til theres a race to 225 squat/deadlift thread… I’ll have somewhere to brag then.
smh
Broke my leg at basic training in August. Just now getting back to squats and deads. Starting 5/3/1 with a 185 squat and 245 deadlift. I deadlifted 305 last February. Congrats to everyone working hard.
No excuses, lift hard.
I follow the Conjugate method and deadlift about every 8 weeks. The other weeks I do some form of squat or deadlift variation and I work on my weaknesses (Getting it off the floor), but the number just hasn’t budged. When I got that PR in March I thought that I could get 315 by March 2012…now I’m just hoping for 245.

about every 8 weeks?
Gotta work it more often than that bro. Do 5x5, 5/3/1, something. Just walk up to a bar and pick it up. You WILL get better at deadlifting. My deadlift dropped from 305 to where I had trouble with 245 because I broke my leg. And Im 5’8 142lbs. Not exactly a stud. You can do it. Dig deep and growl.

Every 8 weeks sounds like it would be rough to progress. Honestly with 5/3/1 it was hard for me to only DL and Squat once a week. If you’re having trouble getting the weight off the ground maybe try working with the Sumo DL too. Initially I switched to the Sumo variant because it felt easier on my back. As the weight has progressed I noticed that it’s more of a challenge to get the weight off the ground and a little easier to lock it out. Maybe that can help you. I also recommend doing Good Mornings, good support for the Squat and DL.
