I’m not really sure why you are posting either. You started a friend asking questions about 5x5/HIIT (which I have written articles on both), and then when I tried to help, you wrote me off as if you knew better than me…that’s after the fact you stated you were a “beginner” at the start of the thread.
I meant “thread” not “friend”…was typing to someone in an IM conversation and got a little distracted.
So, basically you’re saying that everyone on here doesn’t have physiques which do their knowledge justice? And you’re basing this on the photo forum, correct?
Take another look. Sure some of the smarter chaps haven’t put up recent photos, but those that have look very good. Timbo has slapped on more muscle in the last couple years than anyone I know. Have you seen Patricia’s back? She’s walking the walk. Same goes for Cass and a host of others.
After making those comments, you can only do yourself a little justice by putting up your own picture. Maybe some leg shots? Compare them to mine perhaps?
Thanks, Tony G. You know, 'cuz I only come here to “boost my ego because in real life, in a real gym-I’m not shit.”
People who live in glasses houses shouldn’t throw stones, one. And eskimos shouldn’t play with flamethrowers, either:)
Eric, Patricia, Cupcake, TEK, Ken, Cass, Thunder and Tony G. Shame shame SHAME on all of you for picking on someone who is obviously retarded! Do you bastards always pick on the less fortunate and the mentally handicapped? You fuckers! In fact I was talking to Patricia the other day on msn and she was retelling a tale when she took candy from a baby. She was laughing manically knowing she made the little innocent one cry! She said Eric planned the whole thing. You very very bad man Eric! Also I once saw Tek punch an old lady at a crosswalk! She went down like a load of bricks. I think he kicked her as she rolled around in agony! TEK you miserable bitch! And Tony G. how you play that damn saxiphone. Dude that’s not music. Oh wait…???Snicker. Tee hee hee. ![]()
Sorry couldn’t resist. But it is a shame on how this degenerated into stupid name calling instead of something productive. I trust I didn’t have anyone going for longer than the first sentence. Ciao. ![]()
High-volume when dieting doesn’t work. Sorry, it doesn’t- that’s what I said. When attempting to add mass, volume rules, but on a diet phase, there is no point. So no, I’m not against high volume at all; in fact, I just wrote an article touting the benefits of VOLUME, VOLUME, VOLUME.
And in response to your second comment, I’ll be posting some pics within the next few days…you can be the judge. And I’m not really sure what volume has to do with bodyfat, either (i.e. being a “skinny fat” or a “fat ass”)
Oh, and “from what you’ve read”…you havn’t read shit; including the articles. You are a newbie, as you said; click the previous issues link on the left.

I really didn’t want to contribute to this beautiful display of passion anymore, but I feel the desperate need to do so.
E-C, Thunder, and my dear Cass I thank you for being so kind. I never thought that I’d get such wonderful recognition, and, quite frankly, I’m flattered.
E-C, that was a very well written dissertation on your own part, and I continue to support you in all your endeavors and comments because you’re my boy.
You know, I think that little blow-ups like this are good for the T-Forums from time to time. I mean, we all have our aggressive nature inside of us that need be catered. However, I’ll continue to play to calm before the storm and try to settle all you hostile, ranging Testosterone freaks down! Ain’t no thang but a chicken wing on string at Burger King!
Now, get back to your regularly scheduled programs for crying out loud. To quote the great Vlade Divac, I love this country!
One, you don’t have to believe what any of us have to say. Right now I’m around 8-9% bodyfat and 162 and yes I can do dips with 100 pounds for 6 reps. If you don’t want to believe it, I don’t care. If you want to travel to my gym, I can show you otherwise. I will even give you directions. As for genetics, not everyone is blessed with bodybuilder genetics. We work with what we have. I may not be super lean or look like a bodybuilder but I work with what I got. 4 years ago I lost over 80 pounds of fat. And I’m pretty sure I look better than the majority of the population and so do others who post their pictures. Also, I’m still waiting for you to post your pictures. If you would stop being so defensive, maybe you would learn something.
Just for the record, Patricia and I were making a genuine attempt to crack down on childhood obesity by stealing that candy.
Likewise, in TEK’s defense, the only reason he dropped that old lady like a prom dress was because she refused to give him her pocketbook. Stubborn old bag…
Thanks, for clearing that up, EC.
Woudn’t want anyone to think I was indeed a beeeotch. hehehe
Jason, I believe you can do 100lbs for dips… The other poster said that you could do more for dips than I could for deadlift… That’s not the case.
Obviously I’m not going to come to your gym to make sure you can do 100lbs for weighted dips. Come on, it’s comments like this that just make this forum look absolutely ridiculous.
“So, basically you’re saying that everyone on here doesn’t have physiques which do their knowledge justice? And you’re basing this on the photo forum, correct?”
No. I would say their physiques speak for themselves.
Most people on here have such a condescending attitude. It’s not hard to find posts where someone says that professional athletes would do better if they trained differently. That is absolutely hilarious coming from either a woman with 30% bodyfat, a skinny fat 20 year old, or an old guy that only trains for size and doesn’t give a fuck about getting lean or so he says.
I’ve seen 2 physiques on here that I actually consider solid. The first guy had responses such as: "What the hell? Why did you train bodyparts more than once a week? I know everything. I’m a skinny fat, you should follow my advice. Reduce the volume and you’ll look better. Then a fatass will come and agree with the skinnyfat…Then flaming started and people said he must use steroids. The other was a small guy but very lean.
I’m on track to achieve my goals.
eric:
People who are unoriginal and aren’t funny shouldn’t attempt to be funny.
One,
I’m going to try to be the better man on this one and put an end to what started out as a little joke among forum regulars but went too far. The forum is a place to joke around sometimes, but it shouldn’t get to the point of personal attacks. Moreover, if you’re enthusiastic about learning, you shouldn’t run into trouble with anyone here. You’ll find that most people will be very helpful as long as you meet them halfway, don’t insult them, and are polite. That said, for what it’s worth, I apologize.
As I’ll tell anyone, feel free to drop me a PM if I can help you out. Like I said, this is a brotherhood where everyone helps everyone; just because you got off on the wrong foot doesn’t mean that it’s not too late to make things right. Hopefully, this thread will disappear to the archives and we can all let bygones be bygones. Regardless, I’m done with this thread; it’s not good for anyone personally or professionally.
One,
I stated what I had to say like that because you are attacking a lot of people and calling them skinny fats. Obviously, I didn’t expect you to come to my gym and if you did I would think it would be pretty stupid on your part. And if you think a particular thread is ridiculous just don’t participate in it. In a few threads, you argued with people on Marc McDougal not being 6%. He’s got veins coming out of his stomach. I just think you have a lot to learn and maybe if you would get out of the attack mode than you might learn something from us.
I really don’t think Marc looks like 6%. His abs don’t look that defined. It’s hard to tell from a picture though.
I do have to agree with One on one point. I think many people are miscalculating their bodyfat percentage.
One, I must apologize as well. My reply to you was uncalled for and inappropriate. Your questions were valid, and do deserve a straight forward reply. I hope you will consider these answers helpful, and if you still need assistance, then just ask, and I will try to explain it better.
QUESTION 1. How much good fat is too much? g/lb how much should someone get? How much can actually be used? If they’re not used, aren’t they stored as fat?
ANSWER: First I’d like to clarify the reality behind dietary fat. We need to keep in mind that all fats have their place in our diets. There essentially is no such thing as a good fat or a bad fat. The health properites of fats are a function of a multitude of effects that make up the foods we consume daily.
With that said, there is no conclusive research to ever show us exactely how many g/lb of fat should be consumed. All of the dietary recommendations base the fat content of your diet on a % of total calories. In a normal diet, (i.e. not ketogenic), they say you should aim to eat < 30 % of your calories as fat. Now, for most people this is a difficult amount to figure out exactely. But the easiest way to meet this guideline is to avoid fatty and fried foods, but add other fats to your diet like nuts, avacados, vegetable oils (canola, olive, safflower), and fish oils.
The only true way that you can get too much fat in your diet and it will end up being a bad thing for you is if you eat too many total calories, which will then cause the extra energy from fat to be stored in adipose (fat cells). Otherwise, with a clean, moderate diet, your body will use all fats for proper metabolism (i.e. will be oxidized for energy, will regenerate cell walls, will maintain the storage fat around your organs, and will go to create hormones like testosterone).
QUESTION 2. Do all kinds of fat help raise T levels or is it only saturated fats?
ANSWER: Cholesterol (in animal products like meat and dairy), mono fats (olive oil, avacados and nuts) and saturated fat (in animal products again) have the highest correlation with T levels. That is why balance of ALL fats is healthy and benficial.
QUESTION 3. How much protein is too much? Obviously 600+ is for someone who’s not 300lbs but is 300-400g range too much?
ANSWER: The issue of too much protein is more about the factor of excess calories. In reality about 1 to 1.5g/lb of protein is enough to maintain a positive nitrogen balance, and will help build more muscle. Above that amount, unless you are expending more energy than you consume, even excess protein will get stored as fat. Your body need all nutrients to function properly (carbs are for glycogen and blood glucose, protein is for amino acids and enzymes, fat is for cells and hormones), so a diet with all these components (in moderation of course) is really the best to help you meet your goals of looking good, feeling great, and maintaining a long, functional life.
QUESTION 3. Is the same amount of protein needed on off days as it is on workout days? I know muscles are still repairing but is a really high amount still needed?
ANSWER: You basically answered this question yourself. Yes, protein requirements are just as high on your off days as your workout days. This is because with consistant, seriuos training, your body is always in a state of regeneration, and needs the same amount of protein to meet its needs for growth and development.
Well, I hope this is helpful to you. Please dont turn away from this forum so quickly. There are some really knowlegable people here that are willing to dispense their experiences and advice. You can benefit from your experience here and use it to help others down the road.
(To all forumities, please dont flame me too much for not recommending 600 + grams of protein a day).

The bodyfat estimate dilemma…Let the Games begin!
I’ll only offer the advice that an indvidual should be concerned with his/her relative changes in body composition, if measures are taken. While this point is reitterated time and again, you’ll continue to get others begging the question “What’s your bodyfat?” It’s a wicked, wicked circle!
E-C and One-Dawg, I find that you’re both big dawgs. I commend you both for your respective approaches. E-C, your offer for continued guidance and support should be looked upon as a remarkable favor, as you’re, without a shadow of a doubt, one of the most excellent contributors to the forum.
One-Dawg, your persistence and bull-dog attitude has earned you respect. While I may not be in complete harmony or satisfaction with some of your thoughts and opinions, I really must commend you for sticking around and defending yourself. I do hope that you find the forum to be a valuable learning tool and a place where you can also enjoy yourself.
Now, can the Judge put the gavel down on this sumbitch already?!?
Sonofabitch! Our Cassanova is dropping knowledge bombs like a mad dictator! Quality stuff, Cass. Beauty and Brains…Beautiful.
I guess all you have to do around here is get the peeps on your bad side for a while, make 'em feel like crap, and then you’ll get some quality info and a bunch of friends!
