Quad Is Swollen & Burns After Squats

i’ve had this injury for three weeks now, i think from over-squatting. i feel a burning in my left quad after squatting (when i first suffered the injury i felt a burning WHILE working out).

i’ve rested it but tried squatting today and still felt a slight burning. the burning doesn’t feel as severe as it did three weeks ago but it is still noticeable.

and the swelling still hasn’t gone down, even though i took 600mg of ibuprofen for a good week or so.

has any suffered anything similar to this? can you guys offer some advice for me?

thanks a lot.

Wait until its gone, could be a slight tear or pull in your quad.

Im not 100% sure of that but even so, if you make it worse it would last longer.

I have had pulled hamstrings a few times and it didn’t feel like a burn at all (more like a sharp pain whenever I stretched or put weight on it), what does a tear feel like?

When my hip muscles are very sore I feel a similar sensation to yours only it doesn’t last as long. Maybe because I move my stance in for a while or something.

Anyway if the burning has gone down that’s a good sign. Do what you think you should to recover and the swelling will be gone in no time.

I had that on my left quad a while ago actually. I gave it 2 weeks rest, some icing and some painkillers. I also got some physio work done (Ultrasound stuff I believe) and it went. Make sure you don’t push it too hard till it’s 100 (or at least 95%) fine.

I don’t think anyone is ever 100% when they train, compete, or anything else. I always find that there is always a inconvenient but harmless injury every time I work out.

But with the OP’s problem, rest does seem to be the best. I would also recommend a regular, relaxing massage for your quad.
