Power Racks (Elite Barbell)

Has anyone heard of elite barbell ( http://www.elitebarbell.com/power_rack.htm )? because thier power rack is same exact one that eltie fts sells but its about $280 dollars cheaper with options inculded band attachment and chin up bar. ( http://www.flexcart.com/members/elitefts/default.asp?m=PD&cid=114&pid=681 ) . Its $1139 at elite fts and $863 at elite barbell after shipping. I really want this rack but don’t want to have pay more for something when I can get cheaper somewhwere else.

Thanks

Hey bleed, I have the efs rack, in yellow, check out my pics on my profile. I absolutely LOVE this rack. It has done wonders for my lifts, in that I can do whatever weight I want and not worry about getting crushed. The 1" and 2" hole spacing is awesome. When my rack was shipped to my house it came from Williams Strength Systems in South Carolina. I’m not sure about elite firsthand but it looks like a really good rack. I’d go for it it’s not like the efs rack comes with a lifetime warrantee and this one doesn’t. $280 is a nice chunk of change I’m sure you can use elsewhere. Let us know what you get.

Looks like a good deal but possibly too good.

Perhaps I am wrong, but I did not see any physical address for this company. Being that they are in the Cleveland area (440 area code) I was interested in knowing where they were located so I could save on shipping and just pick some things up. This was a first red flag for me. Also, most of the product links on the website do not work (besides the rack and some bars). Second red flag. I then tried to “reverse look-up” their phone number to find their location and proximity to mine in Cleveland, however no luck there. Could just be a cell phone, but still should have a land line for a business.

I guess, buyer beware would be my best advice.

I went with Legend Fitness (www.legendfitness.com) for all of my equipment ( 3x3 rack, pulldown, incline utility, flat db bench) and couldn’t be happier. Got all of this equipment for less than an eltiefts 3x3 rack. Check them out, was well worth it to me.

Just my 2 cents.

I would also consider the fact that they are calling themselves “elite barbell” and selling what appears to be the exact same rack as elitefts to be a red flag. Besides the crappy copy and paste looking image they have of the rack…

I was thinking the same thing. All the equipment looks exactly like the pictures at elite.

These are the guys who ACTUALLY make the elite stuff - http://williamsstrength.com/

I have found previously that the prices seem to be about equal when comparing the 2. One charges less for the equipment but then more for the shipping, so it is a push.

The only problem I have with Legend is that the bottom pins is only 18 inches off the ground which does not allow you to rack dead lifts and also how is the band pegs and the spotter arms on Legend racks, should i get the beefy spotter arms?

First off, make sure you are going directly through Legend for your pricing. I looked elswhere first to get a ballpark idea and then emailed the company directly. Was contacted by Kelly, the president of the company, and he gave me a killer deal.

I don’t have the band pegs or beefy arms. I figure if all the elite racks use simple bar and pipe for the safety arms, the beefy arms seem like overkill and a waste of money.

Regarding the bottom holes, this was hindsight on my part. I am sure if you told Kelly you wanted the holes to go lower it wouldn’t be a problem. The holes now I think are also closer than when I purchased.

Finally, get a price for all the equipment you want. You may be pleasantly suprised as to the price. I got a “package discount” for purchasing four items, would have got a glute-ham also but was getting tight on space. Don’t be afraid to haggle, I did in a much better economy than now and was rewarded. Also, shipping was a lot cheaper to get everything at once.

Yea I have contacted them directly and I wish I could purchase more things but I dont have the money to do so. Although I have lots of space in my basement that is finished with 8.5 foot celing. They are getting back to me monday about seeing if I can make the holes lower.

wouldnt be too hard to make some lower holes yourself. good drill, the right bit, some common sense and you can put holes wherever you want them

I am sure it wouldn’t be a problem. I had them add parallel grips to the chin bar and add a second fat bar on the rack for chins. It cost me $50 total for both.

The customer service is second to none. I had a problem with the first chin bar having the parallel handles too far apart and they sent me out a replacement no charge. Also, ordered the db bench with wheels but it came without. They sent me the db bench frame with wheels and just had me change out the pad, again no charge. I wound up putting a piece of plywood on the old frame and now I also have a bench for step-ups. Kind of makes you wonder how much of a mark up there is since they sent me the replacement bench no questions.

a bit of follow up for those interested…my emal to them and their response.

Was checking out your product line. Your stuff looks a lot like the stuff sold at elitefts.com only lower priced. Do you guys get the equipment from the same supplier or something?

Hi Michael,

You’re right about the equipment and the pricing. No we don’t use the
same supplier, we manufacture our equipment.

Just let me know what you are looking for and I can work up a price for you.
If you have any questions just let me know, be glad to answer them.

Thanks,

Still seems sketchy to me. They’re obviously using the exact same picture as EliteFTS’s 2x2 power rack. They didn’t even bother stealing a picture of a rack with band pegs and a chin bar, which theirs apparently comes with.

I’ve been watching this thread for a little, as I’ve just recently bought the following things from them:

  • Power cage (#3133) with a step-up and dip attachments, dual landmine attachment, pro-style crossmember, beefy spotter arms, and upper and lower band pins.
  • Flat bench
  • Incline bench
  • Decline bench
  • Reverse hyper pro
  • Glute-ham developer
  • Treadmill

I just asked about getting more holes drilled and they said that doing so would be no problem. Like 74 said above, there was just a small $50 fee for this change. I’m deployed right now so I won’t be able to actually touch the equipment for a few more months, but so far I’ve been really satisfied with the customer service.

Nice purchase, I am sure you will be as happy as I am. I am looking into adding a GHR to my basement. $50 was all it took for my changes also.

Stay safe on your deployment, thanks for your service.

Thanks man, I got a splinter in my chest one time from the boards being under my shirt and thought there had to be a better way. So I came up with that. So far it has worked well.
