My coordination is good and i have really light feet, like when i’m on the ladder doing drills and when i do soccer ball drills. Flexibility and endurance are the two aspects of my athleticism that i need to work on. I am decently flexible, like i can touch the ground with my feet together and legs straight etc, but being more flexible would not hurt. Endurance is where i lack though…I never had trouble in a game with it, but during conditioning its bad. Like i ca run 4.9 40’s but after about 4 or 5 im dead. Our run test this year is 12 110’s that all have to be in 18 seconds or less and i can only run 8 in that time limit. The rest of mine are 19’s or 20’s. But next week we switch up our program and run 4 days a week and lift 3. So im pretty sure that will get me into better shape.
Thats my highlight video if you wanna watch. Its from one game this season, and just offense. Im #58 at left tackle and in the white and gold.
that sucks about your run test as obviously that isn’t really a great test of whether or not you’re at proper “fitness” levels for football. oh well, it is what it is. if you never have trouble in a game that’s great.
i checked your highlight video and you do have “good feet.” one thing, i would work on low back and ab strength as those qualities look to be missing judging from your posture. you get kind of hunched over and you need to be more upright (chest, head up) in your stance and with your blocks. what kind of offense will you guys be running?

? I’m still learning the form. and many people can’t do a bodyweight snatch.
if you can snatch bodyweight “soon” after just learning how to snatch, you are already incredibly strong or are unbelievably talented. Every extra 5 pounds is going to be a challenge =) good luck though

Ah. i misinterpreted your short post. thought you were laughing at my poundages. lol. I’ll go for 125 or higher later tonight. I was repping 105 w/o too much difficulty a couple nights ago. I need to get the catch squat down, however. shouldn’t that raise poundages? also i’ve just been performing hang snatches, really. i start from a dead arm hang. so i’m not doing a true snatch i suppose.

I think that maybe only applies to superheavyweights (105+), most everyone I train with (62s, 77s, 85s, 94s) hit bw snatches within a couple months of training. Not saying its not good accomplishment because it definitely is, but its not ‘unbelievable’ for a newbie.

What would be better overall for the average football player (specifically inside linebacker): the hang snatch or traditional snatch?
Power snatches from the hang would probably be the most useful and easiest to learn.
You might be confused by the terminology-
Full snatch (aka squat snatch): catching the weight with your legs at or below parallel
Power snatch: catching the weight above parallel
Either of the snatch forms can be taken from the ground or hang. You can take it even further by varying the height of the hang (ie from mid-thigh or below knee).

Your so right. haha. do you coach football at all? Because my biggest problem is that i get hunched over. Your good man.
Well defensively we run a 4-3 and offensively we run the spread wing. Last year the team had one snap under center. one. haha. We are in shotgun formation just about every play. There looking at me for right guard. but at 6’2 250 running decently, i dont see why not d-end or MLB.
Yeah keep working on your speed and you could easily wind up at defensive end. I recommend lots of 10 yard sprints coupled with olympic lifts(I prefer from hang position) and plyometrics for game speed. I am going to be a sophomore at a 1AA school and I play inside linebacker. Congrats on the PRs, here are some of mine:
6’0, 230 lbs, 4.72 40
Bench:370
Squat:500
Hang Clean:305

man your lucky you only have to run 12 110 im gunna be a freshman at an naia school and i have to run 21 110 under 18 seconds
I play american football in Sweden and by any standards overe here you’re definitely on the top.
Here is my stats, they are about the best on my team, and I consider us as an average team.
age 16
bw : rougly 81-82kg
clean : 95kg, just missed 100
bench : 105kg
squat : 140kg , missed 150.
Got no clue about broad jump / vertical but I know that they are pretty good, but I guese they would only be just over decent in the states.
No it isnt quite popular in sweden, it’s ages behind soccer and hockey which is kind of the “main sports” of sweden.
I wouldnt consider a pro league in sweden to be a real pro league because the level is quite low. I think there is 3-4 divisions in the adult league. Then we have pee-wee, U13, U15, U17, U19. U13 would be for those under 13 and so on.
Evrything is covered in districts and then the winner of each district gets to meet up with a winner in another district. I think we have north, east, west, south and center and about 5-6 teams at the most.
And also nothing ever gets any media coverage at all, I dont rememer seeing it on the news anytime and havent ever read about it in a paper so It’s still small but it’s growing and hopefully it’ll get more atention soon.
Hope that helped =)
Edit : If I recall right the adult league doesnt have districts, but I think they have about 8 teams per division instead.
