Wow. I just can’t get over how much weight you handle in relation to your bodyweight.
Looking at your grip, it’s close in just like mine. But you carry the bar so much lower on your back. My coach has been trying to get me to move the bar down on my back for a long time. Did you always carry the bar low or did you transition into it?
I wore those exact knee wraps at my last meet. They did me well.
Happy belated birthday! I’m glad it was a good one, and I’m hoping this whole year will be awesome for you.
I love watching you squat.

After this I dont feel like a manly man
…Thanks alot…way to crush a few male egos ,your a very mean women.

I had no one to teach me to squat when I first started so it was trial and error. I started out high bar and it hurt my shoulder bones. No one told me that the bar doesn’t just sit on your shoulders and that you have to tighten your back. I started moving the bar lower but that was a hot mess too because then the weight just sat on my wrists. I stayed with low bar and gradually learned how to tighten my back and create a shelf for the bar. This is all to say, it wasn’t a planned thing for me.
Because I have the bar low(er) and grip it so narrow, I have difficulties with my hands and shoulders. My lower arms take a lot of the weight of the bar still. It’s hard to explain but I had someone explain it to me once. I’d have less shoulder pain if I widened it up a bit but it doesn’t feel as secure.
Anyhoo, I agree with your coach in that you should try to move the bar lower. Get him to show you exactly where he thinks you should set it up. This should help with a couple of things for you. You will move more weight because the lower the bar, the closer the load is to the centre of the fulcrum and the less distance it has to travel - basic physics. Also, when the bar is lower, you have more forward lean to accommodate the position of the bar, keeping the load centred. This will keep you from doing the super deep depth thing. I attached a picture from Riptoe that illustrates it quite well.

Trying the picture again.
Sunday November 21
Deadlift - raw
135 - 5
185-3
225-3
255-3
275-2,1
I was just not feeling this at all today so I decided to drop right down and work on form issues. I’m trying to pull my hips tighter to the bar and arch my back harder. I’m not sure how successful I was. I felt tired and when I pull raw, I tend to revert to pulling with my back.
225-6x3
Zerchers
135-5
225-3
245-3
255-2,3,2,1
I attached a video of one of the spazzy sets at 255.
Hanging leg raise
3x10
Seated tricep extension
25lb DB 3x20
I really liked these and will definitely do them again.
Today I bought a lime green pair of chucks that match my knee and wrist wraps.

Years ago, this would have given me warped satisfaction. Somehow, however, I doubt you ever feel like anything other than a manly man. Don’t forget, we’ve all seen your lifting videos even the ones of the meet where you think you did less than spectacularly.
I’ll take the compliment though. Last night we were talking about how far we’ve both come. I like to look back over the past couple of years and it always makes me feel good about where I am now and how hard I’ve worked to get here.
My first meet two years ago I did with a belt and wraps and my final attempts were (in lbs) 176, 94 and 225.

Interesting. My first meet (no belt, no wraps, no clue) I think I did 137, 93.5, 198.
Score on the lime green chucks.
btw, I’m using my mouth guard in the video. Sexy right?
