It just boggles my mind that 2x bodyweight pulls are essentially still a warmup for you.
Lifting on Tylenol with codeine? That would have put me out.
You are just a very intense lifter. And it’s always such a pleasure to follow your training.

385-0,0 The first one I got to just below the knees but then it stopped moving. BB says my set up wasn’t great and I didn’t sit back into it. I’m kind of disappointed but kind of not. Every other time I got something that high, I’ve locked it out the next time I tried it. Also, I started the day developing a migraine with the accompanying aura and took some tylenol with codeine to forestall it so I can’t imagine that helped too much.

Jesus H. Box Squatting Christ! This is incredible deadlifting!!!
Nice.
Nice lifting J!! Just went back and looked at a couple of your older logs/posts… you have made some amazing progress darlin’!
On a side note…
Perhaps the neck problem is because of the lack of tilt steering in BB’s car?..lol!
J.k.!! Love ya!
Your progress is really outstanding.
I’m looking for a new higher intensity routine to start in the new year and am thinking of “borrowing” the basics of your routine, if that’s alright?
How do you decide how many sets to do each session? and how many max attempts etc?
Could you sum up the basics in a nutshell for me?

I’m very flattered that you’re interested in my template. I put it together myself with some input from a couple of people who’d been training forever. Their basic advice was ‘less is more’.
This is the weekly layout (kind of - depending if kid related things come up)
Sunday
Deadlift - Typically heavy. Usually no more than 3 reps per set except for the final set when I try and rep out for a laugh. Because I train in gear, when I’m not amping up for a meet, I go one week raw, one week suited straps down, one week straps up. I pick a weight and add to it each week until it’s too much and I have to reset. A lot of this is by feel.
Deadlift variation (snatch grips, zerchers, box pulls, deficits etc) It’s usually higher volume, lighter weight.
Tricep variation
Abs
Tuesday
Bench heavy - This alternates raw and shirted. Raw is more structured with warm up, 3x3, 2x2, 1x1, and then max reps with the weight I did for 2x2. I add every raw session and reset when I can’t get my reps. I’m resetting this week and dropping down.
Squat variation light - This is whatever I feel like but nothing that is a big strain or high volume.
Good mornings (or some kind of variation)
DB bench
Thursday
Squat heavy - Like deadlift, this cycles between raw, straps down and straps up. My raw sets I don’t do more than triples. Typically 5x3, 1x2, 1x1.
bench light
Over head press variation
row variation
I hope that helps. I stick with the same basic template and slowly move it forward. I put this together last winter and it seems to be working for me. I was doing a lot more volume before and when I cut that out, things moved along for me. Still, a lot of it is by feel. I like having the accessory stuff open ended on variations because I can decide when I’m training what I’m into doing that day.

You are a very bad influence. Besides which, I’m usually the one driving because his driving scares me ![]()

Totally in agreement on the less-is-more philosophy, but my less is alot less than your less. Strong benching and squatting here.
Happy Birthday you Crazy-Strong Woman!!!
May this year be filled with plenty of PR’s and bench sex ![]()

Well along with lots of good food.
It’s your birthday?
Happy birthday! Here’s to a wonderful new year.
So glad to have made your acquaintance online. I learn a ton from you and always find your training extremely motivational. We are all lucky to have you here.
Thanks for all the birthday wishes. I had a great day. BB took me and the girls out for a lovely dinner. My gift from him was sponsored entirely by Titan. I now have both green and pink matching knee wraps and wrist wraps. It’s a good thing I’m squatting tomorrow night ![]()
Happy Canadian Birthd-eh !
Impressive as always.
always working hard- and happy birthday O_b_S!!!

315-2x2 rep PR. I’d planned to do a couple of singles to get a bit faster and ended up with a couple of doubles. The first set is fast but high. The second set felt deeper. I have video of 325, 345 and the first set of 315 but the memory card maxed out after the first set.

Happy birthday to me. I was pretty happy with the evening. Last year I couldn’t have envisioned myself ‘dropping’ to 315 to work on speed. FTR, my planned squat attempts for provincials are 127.5 (281) 140 (308) & 150 (330). Clearly this should be easy. I don’t plan on going heavier because I really want a total this time ![]()
fine lookin’ PR there young lady! Happy Birthday!
It’s only the first one that matters for that total and it looks like that’s just what you’re doing
