sucks about the morons who took your truck!
Oh that sucks Julie, I hope you get your van back soon.
May the fleas of a thousand camels infest the pubes of the van thieves. This is a serious curse.
Very inspiring squat video. What are your cues to keep a tight back? I’ve been struggling with this.

It looks like you’re to the edge of the cage. My stance is barely wider than shoulder width.
Wow. That royally sucks about your van. Can’t believe someone just drove off with it!

It is almost to the edge of the cage. I suppose it’s medium wide. It’s certainly wider than shoulder width.
It does suck about the van. Fortunately, we brought our bags in or we would have lost a couple of squat suits, belts, wraps, shoes and a bench shirt as well. This actually happened a year and a half ago to another local lifter. Her car was stolen two days before a meet and her gear was in it. I ended up loaning her my stuff since we are in the same weight class. She kicked ass at the meet and ended up getting all her stuff and her car back. I’m hoping for the same result.
Shit! That really sucks.
Do you still have enough plates to train with at home? If not, I can lend you some.

It must be a Hamilton powerlifting thing. My car was broken into the night before/morning of our last meet. Fortunately I didn’t load everything in the car as I had planned the night before.

The funny thing is that I purely hate them. Therefore I keep them in the rotation. It’s a bit better now that I’ve started wrapping my wrists.
I’ve also added some rotator cuff rehab. When we were out on Sunday, I was complaining about aches in my bicep and shoulder and was recommended some exercises. I have 3lb dumb bells in the TV room to do YTWL and related stuff when I watch TV. I knew there was a reason I kept my baby weights from when I started lifting.
Does anyone have any recommendations for natural/herbal supplements to boost energy and mental accuity? For the past while, I’ve been extremely tired in the mornings and sometimes all day long. I could take Spike, which I like, but it’s not a long term solution even for a month or so. I need something I can take every day. I’m pretty sure it’s because I haven’t been sleeping properly despite using ZMA.
After 7 years, I’ll be starting a new job in November. I was just offered it yesterday and haven’t given my notice yet. I’ve been looking around since the early summer and this just sort of came up. However, like any major change, even good ones, there is a lot of stress surrounding it and my current job. Does anyone use Siberian ginseng or anything like that?
I use a product with a mixture of different sources of Ginsengs and Yerba Mate.

curious to here what other’s use.
daily I use Vitamin D in fish oil capsules by Carlson
a good quality multi (hit a healthfood store NOT the mass stuff at the pharmacy)
And a vitamin C with high absorption rates - again very wide range of quality here so asking someone at a healthfood store will help.

in the morning: B-complex, B-12, fish oil, vit D & calcium
at night: z-12, ZMA, melatonin & OTC sleep meds as necessary
I avoid the caffeine as I find it makes sleep difficult even if I only have it in the morning.
Maybe an ECA stack minus the C? Only taken first thing in the morning?
Thanks for all the advice. I went to a natural supplement store after work. It’s kind of pricey but we’ll see how it works. I got a b-complex mix thing and an adrenal supplement that’s supposed to help with energy and clear thought. I already have a good multi-vit. I just have to take it. I wonder if the ZMA is making things worse. I’m feeling almost hung over in the morning so I’ve decided to cut it out for a couple of weeks to see what effect it has.
In other news, the found my van parked a few blocks from my house. The ignition is torn out and I had to go the the police station this evening to get a release. I still don’t have it but tomorrow I’ll get my mechanic to get it towed to their shop. Happily my mats and plates are still in it.

At least that’s good news.
I hope the foggy mentality/low energy issue resolves itself.
The car issue turned out better than I feared it would. Glad to hear you got your beloved plates back.
I shop online using iherb and luckyvitamin, they have great pricing imo. The shipping rates look reasonable for Canada.
New Chapter and Garden of Life are my two go-to brands.
