Pour Some Sugar on Me

One of the reasons I like doing DL work at the commercial gym is because they have an ‘in between bar’, i.e. its knurling isn’t as severe as the dl bars I usually use, but not as smooth as the $60 bars they usually have. This singular bar is actually in high demand there. I can get in some volume, without having to cut it short because my hand is falling apart.

Awesome work here… Love the torn hand!

I know that pain… fingers crossed for the Niagara open!

In other news, I decided to send in my registration for the Niagara open. I wasn’t going to do it but Frank watched me stare longingly at the list as it got fuller and told me to just do it since I clearly wanted to. There are only 4 spots left so I may be too late anyway. We were going to the meet any way to help out and coach ruggerlife.

Hey Ouro. I checked the lifter list on Sunday night and was shocked to see only 4 places left. Went to the post office first thing this morning to send in my entry. Hope to see you and Frank there.

Edit: If I get in.

I overnighted mine and they will have it tomorrow. I hope to see you there as well.

Awesome! But you’re only allowed to beat me by wilks, not absolute lbs, deal?

But how will Frank manage all my demands if you’re lifting as well. You know I’m a demanding lifter requiring a lot of attention. Just as Sensgurl and O’Boile, it took two of them to handle me last time.

GirlyGirl Ruggerlife your sole mission is to beat o at wilks.
Nuff said.

OK, I went and checked what that would require and I’m prepared to wager an XL Tim’s coffee AND a donut on the venture!

Oooh. Who’s the big man now? Who’s getting the coffee anyway?

Lower wilks has to buy the higher wilks the coffee AND donut (never forget the donut). I buy Big Bencher’s coffee up front so that he doesn’t put my bench shirt on backwards.

Pete, I just registered that domain at godaddy. I am going to be filthy rich.

I was dreading a set of militaries yesterday, so one of my cues to “man up” was the picture of your torn callus.

It’s nice to know that my scabby torn up grossness can be inspirational  I hope the presses went well.

Tuesday July

Bench
45-10
65-3
95-3
105-2
135-3 shirt on
155-4x2
157.5-1
155-1 commands - easy. This is likely what my second will be at the meet (70 kg)
135-7 This was done focusing mainly on leg drive and staying tight in the quads and glutes

Squat
115-8x3

Good mornings
135-5x5

db bench
37-10,9,6,7,6

I picked the finisher today. We did clean and squat. So it was clean, squat, clean, squat

65-10,11,10

Frank thought it would be fun to throw in push ups. We did 6x10

All of this was in the garage in about 32 c heat.

My heart hasn’t settled down yet.

Wow, nice workout, especially in the heat we have had around here.

that killer workout in a garage with no AC? that’s my definition of hardcore.

Hey Ouro, I see your name is on the lifter list for the Niagara Open. Congrats on making it in on time. I guess my entry missed the cutoff. Should have opted for the overnight mail.

I know you’ll have a great meet. You’re definitely putting in the hard training to get it done.

If you do not mind me asking , whereabouts do you lift/workout in Ontario? Myself, I am in Pickering.

I’d recommend you e-mail Marlene or Glyn and ask where you are on the waiting list. You could be first or second and may still get in.
