Pour Some Sugar on Me

Fun times- watch out for those extra parts after you put the appliances back together

85lbs over head squat is good stuff O. And being smart and mostly safe keeps you lifting long time. word.

Excellent work O_S!

Nice week Ms. O_b_s

I think you can pull that and more- when fresher

snatch grips for high volume- wow you are tough

Love the OH squats…

nice work indeed.

Every time I read that you’ve done OH squats I keep thinking I want to do them again. You really need bumper plates to do them safely though. It was tough to lower even 85lbs from over head with a wide grip. It’d be better to dump it.

The high volume SG deads are a result of us pushing each other. Every set has more reps. One of us would do a set, the other would do one more. I’m not sure who won but my upper back hates me today.

I get lonely training alone now :frowning:

Good lifting in here! That suit looks really flashy, in a good way.

I loved your fight and determination on that deadlift video. Heck, I just love watching you deadlift.

Thursday July 1 (Canada Day)

Squat
45-10
11-5
155-3
195-1
225-3 suit/straps down
255-2 "
275-1 straps up/wraps - I went light to see if I could break at this weight. No problem
295-1 "
315-0,1,1 I pitched forward on the first. The second two were really high so don’t count. Even the walk out felt hard
295-2x2 "

Next week I’m back raw again to de-load a bit. I know when I start squatting heavy too much, my hands start to ache. I’d hoped to hit 335 today so that was a bit disappointing but a couple of weeks ago it was tough to double 280 so the deload should help. This is when I start to feel my age and need to train smarter.

Bench - light
75-8x3

BB rows
115-5x5

OH Press
60-10,10,10,6,9 The six reps was because the bar got caught in the bands hanging in the rack.

Good work.

I envy your squat.

On supplements:

I’ve found the ZMA has been helping with sleep and restless legs. I hope it continues. More interestingly however, I upped my amount of trib and have found I’ve got a lot more energy. I checked the bottle and there aren’t any stimulants listed in it. I’ve found my mental clarity has improved immensely. I upped the amount on Monday and that’s when I noticed the change so I assume it’s related. Anyone else experience this?

Trib as in tribulus? The testosterone booster?

That’s the one. I’ve taken it off and on for over a year. It will react similarly in women since we do have testosterone present just in much lower levels.

What brand trib did you take? I tried it once and it didn’t seem to make difference but maybe thats due to poor quality.

I knew that womenfolk had it as well. I just didn’t know if the trib worked on the adrenals as well as the testes. Does all T, in females, come from the adrenals? Or is some produced by the ovaries, or some other organ?

From personal experience, when my T is higher, I have more energy, more clarity, sleep better and am just in a better mood. I would think that it would be similar, no matter the gender.

From Wikipedia: In mammals, testosterone is primarily secreted in the testes of males and the ovaries of females, although small amounts are also secreted by the adrenal glands.

I think our levels rise when we are ovulating and that is why we generally feel all the good things: Energetic, up beat, high sex drive etc. at that time. I do know that the improved mental clarity is very much appreciated. I’ve had many days during which I feel like I’m thinking through mud. Apparently we produce about 1/7 the test of males and it drops further during menopause. That may explain my increasing stupidity and general window licking.

Now that is funny

That makes complete sense. The mental fog is one of the things that led me to get me T levels checked. It lifted, somewhat, when my levels went up. I still suffer through some of it, though. I chalk it up to old age.

Sunday July 4 - Temperature about 30 c

Box pulls from just below the knee
135-5
225-5
275-5
315-3
365-2 belt
385-1
405-1
415-0
365-1,1,2 I was going to do another set when I realised I’d ripped the callus on my right hand. I do this a lot pulling from boxes because of the heavy weight and the bar sliding

Deficit pulls with bands- We stood on a wood platform so the bar was just at the top of our feet. We had bands running under the platform. The only part that didn’t suck was about 2" in the middle

135-6
155-5
185-3 tried another set but it wasn’t going to happen
155-5,5,5

We set up a circuit for abs and tris that went like this

BW dips from a bench with feet up - 15,15,15

Weighted sit ups with 25lb db - 20,20, 20

Band pull downs -20, 20, 20

Hanging leg raises - 10, 8,8

After this, Frank asked if I wanted a treat. I assumed it involved a cold beer. It didn’t. We finished off with db clean and press - 25 each hand - 10,14, 10

I wanted to throw up.

This is what my hand looked like. This is probably the worst I’ve torn it. I stopped after the box pulls and had Frank cut the excess off. I couldn’t do it myself since I was shaking so much from the heavy pulls in the heat. My cns was going shakey, shakey.

After he cut it off, I painted it with New Skin liquid bandage. It’s like painting an open wound with liquid fire and pain but I means I can finish training okay. I don’t know what’s in it but I’d never use it on a kid.

In other news, I decided to send in my registration for the Niagara open. I wasn’t going to do it but Frank watched me stare longingly at the list as it got fuller and told me to just do it since I clearly wanted to. There are only 4 spots left so I may be too late anyway. We were going to the meet any way to help out and coach ruggerlife.

Finally, I dropped 1.5 lbs from getting up to finishing training. Frank says “Your welcome” since I’ve been up a few lbs from the creatine.

OUCH!!!

Sweet war wound. I fucking hate torn calluses. They are miserable. They make this crazy anti-biotic goopy shit for gymnasts–I think its the duoderm referred to in this link–and it works miracles if you can get your hands on some:
