Pour Some Sugar on Me

I’m the same - I always clean my desk before I sit down to work. helps me focus.

Friday May 21
Squat
4510
115-5
155-3
195-1
205-3 suit on straps down, no belt
235-2x3 straps down, belt
265-2x2 straps up
285-1
235-2x3 straps down

I have one full week of training before the meet so I’ve been dialing back the weight and the volume. Everything felt nice and easy tonight.

Bench
speed - 65 with bands around my back 8x3

Head supported db row
32-8x3

superset with bicep rehab things using dumb bells.

My arm is feeling better but even doing the dumb bell rows I had to stay pretty light. Anything hanging down pulls on it and aggravates it. Apparently it isn’t all that uncommon.

The tail bone issue isn’t getting any better and still bothers me a lot. I’m not sure what happened that it’s suddenly a problem. He was asking if I’d had any childbirth trauma.

Last night I picked up some Fish oil, magnesium and zinc. I’ve been meaning to get the fish oil for a while since my joints are starting to give me a bit of grief. I also suffer from restless legs and apparently magnesium and zinc helps with that. I took it all this morning and its not good on an empty stomach. It resulted in some serious near empty stomach barfing. My daughter asked if I was pregnant when I had my head in the toilet. She seems to think it would be pretty cool. I think I’m putting her up for adoption.

Funny stuff O - even my multi gives me belly aches on an empty stomach. I try to take all my pills with a meal unless they mention otherwise.

Hey Julie, you might want to think about taking the ZMA at night. That stuff makes me sleepy I try and take it an hour or two before bed. Maybe its just me but it hits me pretty quickly.

I “twitch” when I’m sleep, legs, arms, various muscles. Having to sleep next to me is consdiered inhumane in 12 states.

I got the idea for the zinc and magnesium from another poster writing about ZMA. I twitch a lot as well. I also talk and walk. I just don’t have the cash right now. Maybe I’ll see when other people are sending away for supps so we can split shipping.

I’m betting you can use the zinc and magnesium you have to approximate ZMA. You just need to mimic the doses and, as I said above, I always take mine in the evening because it makes me sleepy.

Edit: For being the worlds worst typist.

400mg Mag, 50mg Zinc, 25mg B6. I seem to get the same effect as a ZMA product for less money. There are 2 types of Mag. One’s useless. I’ll check it and post back.

I got the magnesium oxide but it is magnesium aspartate in ZMA. They sell a similar product at Popeye supplements and I’m going to check it out tomorrow.

Love the pink squat suit. Bummer it won’t be ready for your next meet.

It’s Magnesium Citrate. That’s the one I use. Got it at Vitamin Shoppe.

Side note. You’re the resident strong women here. I’m at the gym this morning and there was this woman there dl’ing. Quite well, I might add. Went over and chatted with her for a moment. 112#. Best DL…290#. I was duly impressed. Just curious how close to a record that is. Forgot to ask her if it was geared or raw. Not that that really matters. She appears to be around our age. I was curious cuz she was repping with 205 and I just had to know. We also chatted for a moment about half-rep magees.

Sorry to hear about the suit. That really sucks. Who knew that powerlifting taught patience as well!? Or, at least, tries one’s patience.

x2 on the ZMA or homegrown mix to match it. That stuff really works for me.

Just in case you haven’t seen this, your weigh-in will be at 9:00am (push/pull at 7:30am)

290 is really, really good for a 112-lb. woman. That’s 2.6x bodyweight! I’m a 110-lb. 44 year old and my best geared pull so far is 242.5 lb.

That’s right. That is really good. My best at 132 is 353 or 2.67. If it’s raw, that’s really kick ass. As far as records go, I only look at the Canadian ones.

Is that when it was last year? I can’t remember? Is there list of lifters that you are aware of? It looks as if every cat and his dog will be there to lift and/or party.

Yesterday was Frank’s birthday so we went to Toronto and did a crap ton of walking. It was a great day out and the weather was stunning. Today after we trained at the Y, we drove to Niagara on the Lake and did more walking. I’m all in now

I picked up the ZMA at Popeyes and we’re both trying it out. Hopefully the fish oil works as well. Training today, we were a bunch of freaking geriatrics. I was one of the youngest there and we all had a litany of aches, paiins and injuries.

Just checking in on the run up to your meet. Yep, still strong. Kick butt.

Great training. Looking forward to your meet. Hope the ZMA and fish oil works for you. Did you have a B-day cake?? I love cake. Wish I had a piece right now.

My daughter made a cake last weekend. This weekend it was pasta, beer and ice cream.

Right now training is a bit boring because I’m pulling everything back. My last pull was today. I’ll bench Wed., squat Friday and do some light stuff early next week.

o_s - I was egging my workout partner that you squat more than him (he’s the tall kid in my vids). It’s motivation material for him for sure!
