Hi all. I was wondering what people who did EDT followed it up with in terms of training. While i haven’t picked the specific excerises yet I was thinking about doing a program that worked in the general hypertrophy range (6-10). I was also thinking of incoporating a fairly wide variety of excercises per body part but only doing ~2 sets per excercise and going to failure on all sets. My goal with this is to design a program that contrasts EDT so as to provide a nice shock to the system. Any thoughts are appreciated.
EDT is a pretty high volume approach, so I think that you would be best off with a lower volume, strength based program. Even 5x5 might be too high volume at this point. Look through Poliquin’s “Training with Maximal Weights” article on this site for some ideas.
i agree with eric. after i did EDT, i went to a strength phase, a very low rep, heavy phase. (it was poliquin’s 2,1,1,1 drop to be exact.) i always go 4 weeks hypertrophy, 4 weeks strength, but thats just me. with EDT, since I had an 8 week hypertrophy, it was very imperitive that i had a strength phase. just my 2 cents.

I’m going to second Eric and JC’s opinion and say that a strength based program would be best. Stick with dynamic movements and other heavy compound movements.
Jason,
I’ve tried to avoid asking a newbie type questions and use the archives, but it’s not working. EDT training, what is it and where can I find more info in the archives. I’ve gone to subject and typed in EDT, EDT training and I’ve found nothing.
I too did a strength phase routine. Did Westside for 6 weeks. Now, I’m into a cutting phase with a 5x5 and HIIT routine.
EDT = Escalating Density Training. The articles are by Charles Staley and have been published within the last half year or so. Just look through the recent previous issues or do a search under Escalating Density Training or Charles Staley.
