How the fuck do you short guys do decline bench ?

I’m 5’6" , and un-racking even 135 puts a not-so-pleasant strain on my elbows and shoulders…while un-racking 90% on a flat bench is no big deal.

didnt mean to hi-jack…just noticed you were vertically-challenged like me and the question popped into my head

I don’t do decline that often, as i don’t have a spot i don’t do many straight bench presses… I do alternate chest exercises…

For example, i will do clap pushups with 20 lbs weight vest on our do dumbbell chest presses.

You gotta be inventive when your alone in your training…

But when i have done benches with spot, i prefer to have spot help unrack… So we’re a little different on that anyway…

Agreed 100% with above. Being creative is the key to combating lethargy and staying outside of your comfort zone. Pushups will forever kick your ass as long as you keep them challenging.

Dumbbell presses, unlike barbell presses, allow you to do many different grips … which can definitely be nice for breaking the monotony. Not to mention, there is no risk of a shit ton of metal crushing you if you fail to complete the lift (unless you drop the DB on yourself, which I have seen once).
