bro u looked bigger than all of the taller guys there. conditioning wasn’t off either I have no idea how u finished 4th ???
Ya I asked all there weight and most of them were tall as me or taller. and nobody weighed over 180.
I guess when the crowd booed when I got 4th, it was kind of funny to me now when a bunch of competitors came up to me and people saying I got screwed, but ohh well I came in overall better proportion in size and my conditioning was just as good. I have years ahead of packed on muscle. In my opinion, but they did a great job and maybe politics plays a role, but now all I can do is move forward and move on

From that pic alone I would have the guy in the middle/red trunks first. You and the black guy battling for 2nd/3rd, green shorts 4th and blue shorts 5th.
The green shorts kid got 2nd. he weighed a buck 168 maybe at my height.
The guy that won was 6ft 2, around 178, he was well conditioned but I was right up there. and that black guy your talking about was really skinny. I mean he looked like he ran track, the pic makes him look bigger, ill show more pics to come. But I feel like I came in with a better package and presentation.

What exactly do judges look for in physique? Is it the same as bodybuilding with less focus on mass or is there more to it? I ask because I would have had you placing higher than 4th as well.

I talked to a pro physique competitior, he thought I would of placed better as well. He told me local shows are still feeling it out, they don’t know what to look for yet because its new. The pro has same height and same weight as what I come in at but of course has a better physique because he earned his pro card. They look for muscularity, symmetry, overall definition, stage presents, extreme muscularity will be marked down. But im not extremely muscular. you dont even get to pump up when I was back there. Its a natural look. Like your walking down the street but shredded. Hard to do lol. but bodybuilding is more hardcore but this still is not easy. So I dont get it, I just have to pay my dues and just come in for the judges to not have a choice.
Update on Physique competition. I placed 4th my first competition for NPC at John simmons classic.
Then got 2nd at untested national qualifier NPC oct 1st. Then I got first in tall class at the Western in late october which was a national qualifier.
So now im going to miami for nationals nov 18-19 wish me luck. Im still keeping big legs even though im wearing board shorts lol
Good stuff! B sure’n let us know how that one turns out. I find that with each successive show, you get ‘better’, not just in terms of physique, but mentally as far as your stage presentation as well.
good job OP, you look great and if nothing else hopefully the exposure will be good for your training experience and to promote yourself in the industry.
you should post here more often. we would benefit greatly from your experience.

Good luck in Miami. The competition will be very stiff. I know a guy doing that show, his legs are his best part too, funny enough.

For physique are you required to wear calf length board shorts? Can you wear swim trunks that are more the size of running shorts?
You go about 1-2 inches above knee, you can see the tear drop. Thats about it. wish they came up a bit higher.
