It would be awesome to be picked. Barring me being picked, I plan on starting the V-Diet december 21st, if I’m picked then whenever Chris will have me start. I’m really hyped for this. This is the most excited I’ve ever been to start the Velocity Diet. I started tabata thrusters back up to accelerate progress a little bit. I’m about 250 lbs right now. By dec 21st I plan on being about 245. I’m ready.
When will the lucky person be announced Chris?
Chris,
Are you going to post the candidate’s workout program and transition period? I want to do the V-Diet but don’t really want to be in the spotlight that much. And I’d like to see how you’d design the transition period and the workout program…

No luck has nothing at all to do with sticking to it but luck has everything to do with getting picked out of 50+ people.

No it doesn’t, Chris isn’t choosing out of a hat (that would be “chance” not luck anyways).
He’s looking for the person most dedicated and motivated to do this. He’s not throwing a dart at the proverbial ‘map on the wall.’
Also, luck can be bad, so luck has nothing to do with it.

Still looking at applicants. Lots of good ones in there now.
Thinking of choosing someone, then spending a week or two preparing them mentally, giving them things to read to get them ready, and transitioning them into the diet. Then maybe starting full-blown in early January with the “real” V-Diet – all shakes except for 4 solid healthy meals for 28 days, then a transition off.

True but it is very hard to see motivation and dedication over the internet.
Are there any reasons to not do the V-Diet for more than 4 weeks? Could you do 4 weeks with the transisition and then do another 4 weeks on the V-Diet?
I don’t know if this has been suggested for the book but, past the 2 week transition of coming off the diet is there any info on what to do after the diet. Granted we all know high protein, complex carbs in the morning or around post workout time yada yada but, the hardest part of any diet isn’t the diet. Its when you come off of the diet. I do look forward to seeing the book as well as any new findings on this diet.
Also, What kind of training program do you have in mind for the chosen one? The diet is great, but are you thinking of total body 3-4 x/week, or some kind of split? Also, are you going to prescribe steady-state cardio, or HIIT?
Thanks, Russ
I was going to ask Chris how soon he would notify the one that has been chosen, but since he said he might be starting in early January, I imagine he’ll let the person know in another week or two.
Lets get our minds right and keep 'em right folks!
So I’ve read the article on the Velocity Diet and am still planning on doing this in January even if I’m not picked, but no where in the article does it mention anything about the 2wk transitional period and what to do during it.
Anyone know where the info is?
Or, Chris, is it being held until the book is released? Also, when is the book going to be released?
I do understand that it would highly increase the person’s chance of successfully completing it by starting it after the new year, but i for one, if i was lucky enough to do it, would kind of get a kick out of doing it over Christmas and New Years, by showing ultimate restraint over two of the biggest days of over indulgence all year.
But i also could just be kind of a masochist.
Anyway, I suggest that anybody who is in the running for this thing keeps their stuff together during the holidays anyway, no reason to pack on an extra 10 pounds of fat this month and then strip off 20 in the V-Diet, why not plan on getting as tight as you can. That way if you get picked, your just gonna look that much better come Spring, and if you dont happen to get picked, maybe you start '08 a little less lard like then you would have otherwise.

good points. Christmas has always been my weakness. do you plan on doing the V-Diet?
well, as much as i want to, i’m kind of at the mercy of T-Nation as to if im going to get to or not.
The V-Diet falls a bit outside of my supplement budget as a college student.
If im not lucky enough to be chosen, i’ll probably do a poor man’s V-Diet, which wouldnt actually be the V-Diet at all, just me going very low carb, taking HOT-ROX, and supplementing with quite a few shakes.
But regardless im gonna do the six weeks with the person who gets picked, kind of my way to support my fellow T-Man.

I feel ya JB, trying to supplement as a college student is super rough, but luckily christmas is right around the corner, so I’m just asking for money if anything at all so I can use that as my “supplement stash” and not have to dip into my expense money.

The book has an extensive transition period outlined.

The person chosen will do a Chad Waterbury program designed specifically for V-Dieters.
Cardio: Read the old V-Diet article please. I’ve covered this to death there.

Not sure, sorry. I think it’s in editing now.
OK, so still the low-moderate intensity cardio for the energy system. Of course, at 318 lbs I wouldnt need the weighted vest!
Today I will be compiling a short list of about 5 people from the 60+ signed up for the V-Diet Clinic. Still accepting new sign-ups though.
