Bench: Not sure really. First attempt I just want a nice clean 225. That way I can make sure my form is good, judge how long the bar has to stay on my chest, ect. Haha get the nerves out of me and such. From there we shall see.

Deadlift: I’ve been chasing 500 for some time and this is as good of a time as any I suppose. I’m thinking opening at 415, then 460, then we’ll see if I can go for that 500 or not.

Haha I just don’t really know how to judge my weights for the meet because I’ll either get nervous and lose some strength or I’ll feed off people watching and do better than I have before.

Hola Crew!

That photo of you and your team coming out of the water during the storm almost looks like an art piece. Great photo.

So are you any hungrier on a daily basis or is it still a push to eat all your calories?

Don’t you ever just want to down a few donuts or go get some good Mexican food?

Hey Octgirl!

It’s pretty easy for me to down the meals, I’m actually hungry around the time I eat them. Haha I do get cravings but I save them up for Sundays.

Although I did have some cake last night, but since I’m on week 3 diet that was allowed! Other than cake I don’t get any cravings. The thing I miss the most is pasta as I’m Italian and used to eat it at least once a week, if not 3 times.

Friday’s are usually kinda rough in the office as I would love to eat bagels with everyone but it’s off the diet so I live. Haha I’ve been on pretty strict diets for years now, so nothing new!

I feed off the crowd, and I never really did any sports growing up. You have a pretty athletic background and from what I can tell you live for the competiton so you will be fine. At my last comp I asked a few pro’s if you ever stop getting nervous they said “when you stop getting nervous you should retire, you have probably lost your edge. Or maybe you are just that damn good.”

One mistake I did make in my last competition is I worried to much everyone else was doing and this caused me to lose my focus. I am just such a big fan of the sport I spent to much of my time and energy cheering on everyone else. Remember you are there as a competitor not a spectator!

I just set my camera on a bench or weight tree to record all my lifts.

Nice work on the 550 rack pull CP, making good progress altogether. The pic of you and your crew (get it haha…ok I’m not funny) getting out of the water after the storm looked cool, but I know it wasn’t a very good situation. Glad you and your team were safe.

Keep rollin like Nolan bro!

Kalle,
Much thanks for the insights man!! Haha that’s a pretty cool answer by one of the pro’s you asked. It used to be the norm for me to be out there competing on my own since I wrestled and was the pitcher in baseball, but having done a team sport for the last 4 years it will be something I’ll have to get used to again.

Haha we’ll have to see about setting my camera down on a bench, having it stolen once already I’m not too excited about keeping it out of my sights again

Haha wellllll, we did lose one boat that day! The other 8 weren’t as lucky as the 8 I was in, they swamped full of water and had to swim to a rescue boat. Lol sucked to be them!

Hey Crew!! Looks like they wrote today’s article just for you.

talk about some special treatment! =)

Haha true that, maybe I can get my genetics combined with the Governors?

Hey, just thought I’d let you know that my team, Williams, just got back from Clemson Sprints. It was a well run regatta, lots of fun.

Haha good! I was there all day!

Hey CrewPierce,

I look forward to a good progress pic, comparison of beginning until now.

just saw your progress photos
i swear i think 80% of your size is going straight to your arms, which isnt necessarily a bad thing lol and use better lighting man
but otherwise nice job as always

Haha very possible man. My biceps are always sore thanks to the arm curls and deadlifts. Not too mention the bench hitting the triceps.

I’m interested in hearing what your goals for the meet are as well.

Did I not post them here? Hmm ok well I can do that agin.

Bench I’m thinking: 225, 245, 265

Deadlift: 425, and then see from there. Ideally it would be 450-460 ending weight but I haven’t been pulling around that weight in practice.

Who know’s how I’ll respond to everything though, it’s my first push/pull meet. So it will be interesting to see how I perform in front of people and with the nerves and all.

In HS I would get killed if I went into a wrestling match nervous. In college however, as soon as I started rowing the nerves would go away and I would do my best ever.

When I did my “strongman” meet I hit that zone like in rowing and did well, although I could have done better.

I just saw that you did. My fault. Went back too many pages when I should’ve just looked on this one.

Haha it’s all good you could ask every day and I would prob. have a different answer.

Crew!!!

The San Diego Crew Classic is next week, 04/05/08.

I am going with some friends from work.

yes… that had nothing to do with your thread but… I like to share.

Great progress fella, and like the other poster said, your arms are getting all this big attention!
