Thats even worse. F-ing metric system.

I am sitting here shaking my head. Thats insane.

Awesome progress pics Barti! 60 lbs in a few months is no joke and some serious effort. I give you much props and respect! Keep up the kick ass effort!

If you do hit up that V-Diet, expect to turn heads at the beach afterwards. You are already lean now, imagine what you’ll look like afterwards.

Hey Bartl-

Thanks for your return to hilarity on the posts. The Texas slams on CS were, indeed, HILARIOUS LO very L!!! Do you suppose he also has:

  1. A “Don’t Mess with Texas” bumper sticker?

  2. A George W. Bush For President '08, “Fuck Democracy, We need Leadership” pin on his gym bag?

  3. How 'bout a "Hank Williams, Jr. " CD in his CD player?

  4. Gawd–I hope not-- A rebel flag license plate, PERHAPS???

I wanted to make another–albeit belated-comment. I think it is FANTASTIC to discover one’s heritage. Mine is primarily Hungarian, and you know what, after 3 years–starting at age 43–I can now speak it pretty well. And I have visited there many times since, made connection with long lost relatives, made a lot of new friends too.

As far as Scotland, 5 years ago I was in Edinborogh for the Hogmanay–New Year’s Eve–it was AMAZING. Half the guys were in kilts (unfortunately, none of the lassies) and when the cannons went off over the castle, a real live Braveheart roar went on! It was AMAZING!!!

So-DO IT when you can. Retracing one’s roots is a life-changing experience. ARE YA READY, FOR A WAR???

Thanks Gus. After catching up on your posts, I have made sure not to slack in the gym.

As for the V-Diet, I think I will do it after my second race in August, just in time to hit the “welcome back to school” season in September.

I doubt he has any of that, but I guarantee he has a “I Heart Roadkill” bumper sticker.

The cool thing about my Scottish heritage, is that my great Uncle (my grandma’s brother) kept in constant contact with the family back there and my aunt has EVERYTHING I need to go back and make my presence felt there.

Its only a matter of time

I love the accent. I met a guy here in SB who wears a kilt everyday and he’s in construction. He found a company that makes a “utili-kilt”. Not only does it have a built in tool belt, but it can hold 6, 12 oz beers. Awesome for the construction worker.

Right on man, thanks! Now I just need to go on a mission and fight some big ass wolf.

I want one so bad.

Hey Chris,

I wanted to let you know that after losing 63ls I too get cold ALOT more. (have 35-40ish still to go)

I have to have socks or warm fuzzy slip ons at all times in the house.

Of course being in Seattle makes it worse!

Another sunny day here!

Damn it…we got your rain!

My basic home attire is my Ugg’s (yes I have Uggs and the f-ing kick ass), sweats and the biggest XXL sweatshirt I have that I got for x-mas this year. Thing is so big on me, i could seriously fit two of me in there.

Yeah second the cold part. I remember a few years back in boston I braved the winter in this light fall jacket. Dropped the pounds and next winter, all I could think was “wtf this is all I wore last winter?”

Not to spoil the fun with geeky stuff, but in answer to your question, whenever you restrict calories, your body thinks it’s starving and it tries to lower your metabolism. A lower metabolism means lower body temp. That’s why Thibs had you guys stick thermometers up your ass - so he could get your body temp and monitor your metabolism. I’m on week 3 of the V-Diet, and my first week I would be sitting in a 70 degree room and be cold. I had cold hands almost constantly.

You may now return to your jocularity.

How is diet correlated to body temperature? I understand that if you eat spicy food it can increase your temperature but overall how does one affect the other?

Right on Mike. How’s the bear liking the V-Diet?

Everything that Shugs said has proven to be true. This third week is, in a way, easier than the first two, but now I’m just tired of drinking nothing but shakes. As tasty as Metabolic Drive shakes are, is another damn protein shake I goota chug down. And I’ve had cravings, but for stuff like roast chicken and salad. You have no idea how much I want a salad right now.

I drove by a pizza place tonight and the thought of eating all that greasy cheese just turned my stomache. I’m not kidding - I think the diet has really changed my food preferences just like Shugs said it would. It really is as much of an “experience” as it is a diet. And I’ve dropped 10 lbs. in just over 2 weeks. I was relatively low carb prior to the V-Diet which may explain the relative “slowness” much like Greg is experiencing. I’m thrilled with the 10. I plan on taking the 4-week break like Shugs recommends and then doing this again.
