How is diet correlated to body temperature? I understand that if you eat spicy food it can increase your temperature but overall how does one affect the other?

Not to spoil the fun with geeky stuff, but in answer to your question, whenever you restrict calories, your body thinks it’s starving and it tries to lower your metabolism. A lower metabolism means lower body temp. That’s why Thibs had you guys stick thermometers up your ass - so he could get your body temp and monitor your metabolism. I’m on week 3 of the V-Diet, and my first week I would be sitting in a 70 degree room and be cold. I had cold hands almost constantly.

You may now return to your jocularity.

Right on Mike. How’s the bear liking the V-diet?

Everything that Shugs said has proven to be true. This third week is, in a way, easier than the first two, but now I’m just tired of drinking nothing but shakes. As tasty as Metabolic Drive shakes are, is another damn protein shake I goota chug down. And I’ve had cravings, but for stuff like roast chicken and salad. You have no idea how much I want a salad right now. I drove by a pizza place tonight and the thought of eating all that greasy cheese just turned my stomache. I’m not kidding - I think the diet has really changed my food preferences just like Shugs said it would. It really is as much of an “experience” as it is a diet. And I’ve dropped 10 lbs. in just over 2 weeks. I was relatively low carb prior to the V-Diet which may explain the relative “slowness” much like Greg is experiencing. I’m thrilled with the 10. I plan on taking the 4-week break like Shugs recommends and then doing this again.

I am targeting the V-Diet launch in September, so I am loving reading all the experiences.

I also am in my 4th week of the V-Diet and am cold all the damn time. I’m freaking freezing right now. I have noticed a correlation with dropping weight and being cold.

What? Those aren’t kilts, they’re fuckin’ skirts for men!! I’ll just stick to my bog standard tarten one, thank you very much!

Real men wear proper kilts!!! LOL

I wanted to make another–albeit belated-comment. I think it is FANTASTIC to discover one’s heritage. Mine is primarily Hungarian, and you know what, after 3 years–starting at age 43–I can now speak it pretty well. And I have visited there many times since, made connection with long lost relatives, made a lot of new friends too.

As far as Scotland, 5 years ago I was in Edinborogh for the Hogmanay–New Year’s Eve–it was AMAZING. Half the guys were in kilts (unfortunately, none of the lassies) and when the cannons went off over the castle, a real live Braveheart roar went on! It was AMAZING!!!

So-DO IT when you can. Retracing one’s roots is a life-changing experience. ARE YA READY, FOR A WAR???

The cool thing about my Scottish heritage, is that my great Uncle (my grandma’s brother) kept in constant contact with the family back there and my aunt has EVERYTHING I need to go back and make my presence felt there.

Its only a matter of time

big strapping men wearing kilts… what’s not to love?

that and the accent!

I love the accent. I met a guy here in SB who wears a kilt everyday and he’s in construction. He found a company that makes a “utili-kilt”. Not only does it have a built in tool belt, but it can hold 6, 12 oz beers. Awesome for the construction worker.
Dude thats an awsome invention… well at least for the beer part lmao… you wouldnt want to be drunk at the job…but any other day shit i would wear that kilt if i can carry around a 6-pack with me all the time lmao…

I don’t know of a Scotsman to pass up a kilt that carries beer, but the standard kilts look so amazing!

you have no idea. the thing is awesome. I mean it has a pocket for nails, a hammer loop, a pocket for pretty much everything a construction guy would need, PLUS the ability to hold beers.

Now if they were just able to find a way to keep the beers cold while in the kilt, would make that thing out of this world.

Okay, I’ll give you that one. Pockets for beer do sound rather good

Mind you, ice cold beer in your pocket and of course, no underwear… brrrr… chilly!!! lol

C’mon man, we’re highlanders! We run around with no underwear in the dead of winter! LOL…awesome…

I get some funny looks when I wear mine to the home depot. But you gotta love the ventilation!

Have to have a tartan one too! (How did Bartl’s discussion turn into kilt style tips?)

I come from a Scottish background and another Scot and I just started talking about kilts.

Maybe when you’re done with this “triathlon” craziness you should try out the Highland Games. There’s a few in your area. You’ve got the strength for it.

Aye, and when you come over to Scotland, Bartl, you can enter the Highland Games here too. Some right big mofo’s, let me tell you

To HG Thrower: Nice caber, mate  I couldn’t even pick one up properly, let alone toss the bloomin’ thing  no homo lol

I’m not that strong. Even Thibs would get his ass kicked if he entered one of those things.

They have all levels of competition. Your strength numbers are probably a bit better than mine, and I’m a mid-level amateur (at least in CA). Losing weight definitely doesn’t help. The best guys in the world are 275+. But, its fun and at my level, you just try to beat your own PRs.

Hey Bartl, 2 thumbs up for the amazing progress.

Could you please ask Thibs to explain this: "Never mix acid and sweet fruits

You can mix acid and sub-acid or sub-acid and sweet"

I eat a big bowl with 5 different fruits every morning and really need to know why one should not mix. Thanks in advance
Stefan2k, I found this over in the “Thib Zone” in the author’s locker room, hope it helps:

It’s a digestion thing. It will NOT make a huge difference, but not mixing will ease up the workload of the digestive process which:

 1. Increases absorption
 2. Decrease stress
 3. Reduce the risk of developing food intolerances

But as I mentioned, it will not make a HUGE difference especially if the amount of fruit eaten is small.
