Physique Clinic discussion for Barti

They can’t call you “cheeky” any more, because your cheeks have disappeared!

Then 200, then 195, then 190…

Man, that’s so cool to say.

Wanna know what’s funny about that comment? “Cheeky” is a British slang term. I figured if Thibs was gonna call me anything, it would be some insane French-Canadian word that only he and the French-Canadian people can say.

He is quite the diversified fellow.

yo bartlbee, i used to like your posts on pc clinic. i tip my hat to you on your progression. but within the last two weeks you have become an a&&hole. grow up dude. look at your old pics and realize what you have been for the last decade. a dough boy. and if you are worrying about passing a stupid FC exam, how will anyone ever trust you with there money? think about it?

Hey Bartl, hows the triathalon preparation going? Seems coach thibs has you on a good progression for getting your conditioning up.

If you ever need technical help I am happy to assist if I can. Tri’s are treated pretty seriously here is Australia and I competed for 8 years. I even live on a major tri course just to rub salt in the wound when I got injured.

Just being in condition for the 3 legs is nothing if you don’t get the gear prep done and the transition prep done.

What are the lengths of the legs in the race in May?

My favorite movies are ‘‘Snatch’’ and ‘‘Lock, stock and two smoking barrels’’ … probably explains my occasional use of ‘‘arse’’ and ‘‘cheeky’’.

CT - love those two movies. British humor is great. One of my fav’s. just gotta be cultured to it.

Also B-

As far as salesman movies go, you cant forget the clasic, legendary Glengary Glen Ross.

And Boiler room is what my boys used to do in high school. sorry, but it happened, tons of money was made for few, and lots of money was lost for most.

Sucks to be part of the majority. LOL

Hey man, I appreciate your honesty. But opinions are like assholes, everyones got them.

I have changed but I am still the same person I was when I started, just 53 pounds lighter.

Like Thibs said, to be good at something you have to have a little bit of a cocky attitude and I don’t care what other people think. If I wanna be cocky, I will fucking be cocky.

I am doing something that millions of people can’t do and thats change my life for the better.

You don’t like what I’m saying, don’t read my thread.

There are so many other people out there who have sent me personal messages thanking me for being who I am and doing what I am doing because I am an inspiration to them.

That means more to me that one person thinking I’m an ass.

The preparation is tough, both physically and mentally. What I have gone through so far with the clinic has taught me a lot about my mental strength.

I am actually going gear shopping in the next week or two, once I get my tax return. My Ironman buddy is going to help me pick out some good stuff. Any brand suggestions?

As for the lengths…its 9/10ths of a mile swim, 26 mile bike and 7 mile run.

GGR is also a very good movie.

Mate, doing an Olympic distance event as your first triathlon shows you have balls!

Try and get goggles with anti fog lenses. I like Zoggs but not sure if they are available over there.
You may want to get a triathlon suit so you don’t have to change out of your swimmers speeding up transitions. 2XU suits are really good. If you don’t get a full suit then getting tri shorts is still a good investment.

I assume you have a bike sorted already. If not the ensure you get one that is correct for your leg length and height. Buy it from someone who competes in riding or trathlons preferably as they will know what you need. Also think about how you will store drinks on your bike. You will want 2 drink bottles for the ride.
Get some elastic laces for your shoes as well. Don’t train in them though, save them for race day.

If you don’t buy a tri suit or tri shorts then work out how you will do your transition. You don’t want to just pull your shorts over wet swimmers as your bike leg will be really uncomfortable if you do.

Oh and buy a good lubricant (no not so you can have sex with other competitors after the race…even if the girls do look hot in lycra!). You will find you get rubbing skin irritation pretty easily. Apply liberally!

Happy shopping!

Not sure if its balls or stupidity, but I know I can finish the Olympic distance and I KNOW I can do it well.

Here is what I was planning on wearing:

Swim - speedo, not the “normal” speedo, but the mid quad lenght speedo, under my full wetsuit

Bike - I haven’t decided if I am going to wear my bike shorts under the wetsuit or not but I will wear bike shorts, a tight upper body shirt and most likely some other type shirt on top of that. I will not wear socks when I bike.

Run - I was planning on stripping off the bike shorts and running the speedo and tight upper body shirt. Add some socks and I think my transition can be short.

I appreciate all the feed back from everyone. I am going to make all of you proud when I do this race.

Hi Bartl! Amazing change. I don’t know if it is that you look younger but you really look more vital!

Kit~

I feel more vital. Now I just need a woman and a hot night a sex to really show how vital I am now.

Your mental toughness wins the battle dude and you have me convinced you will smash it.

You are getting me motivated to race again next season! No doubt the training gets you in razor sharp shape which should really finish off the work you are doing at the mo. I can do for a bit of that myself.
