Hello,
I will write here my personal experience with this type of injury… I was training for WPC Europeans in Portugal, and repping 230kg in training when I felt a slight muscle pull (note: I was benching every day)… so I took 2 days rest and continued training… went over 220kg on 3 consecutive days…
on meet day I felt strong as a bull, and wanted to opet 230kg… during warmups I felt my pecs so I lowered my opener to 210… lifted it like nothing, but felt another muscle pull… I still decided to continue… went for conservative second at 220kg… the bar was never lighter, I began my descend and felt and heard like a towel is ripping below my skin, and like something alive was inside…
They took the bar, it was already swollen to twice the size… I iced it, and kept my arm mobilized… around 3AM in the morning it was all black, but I kept the ice till I arrived back home to Serbia… Here they told me I had 2 partial ruptures, one is 22mm long, another one is 24mm long… so its almost 2 inches of ruptures inside muscle… but luckily the fascia remained whole!!!
I had ten treatments and physical therapist, ultra sound, laser, tense, and some other electrical stimulation, and I started training after that… Injury was on June 8th, and I started training a month after with just a bar, adding 10kg every workout, doing 20 reps…
Today I will have to do 20x100kg, and after 100kg I will drop my reps to 15 till 130kg, then to 10 till 150kg, then 8’s till 170kg, 6 till 190kg, and then triples…
I have WPC worlds in Czech Republic in November and I hope I will be ready!
I anyone has any advice, please let me know
Gavra
