im wondering when on a cut how much is too much to be eating. currently eating about 100g of fat in conduction with a ketogenic diet, i feel its the best fat to keep me both sane and satiated
I must be going mental, because I read the thread title and I was like, “um, instead of a band-aid?”
There’s no way to tell if one food item will help or hinder your progress without knowing what else you’re eating during the day. Not to spout the old “IIFYM” line, but if it does fit your macros/calories for the day, I don’t see why you can’t include it. Unless I’m just misunderstanding the question.
If you can handle it in moderation, as in one spoonful or whatever and then put the jar away, I’d say go for it. Staying sane is kind of an important thing during a cut. For a lot of people, for whatever reason, peanut butter seems to trigger an all-or-nothing gorge to the point where some folks simply don’t buy it or keep it in the house when cutting.
nah i do weigh it out and ensure the fats fit in, i was just wondering given the other macros that may creep in but i reckon its being anal about things.
thanks chris

when i dieted with Shelby he reccomended to get fats from a few different sources— id say make sure its 50 percent or less of your fat intake–dont forget sources like olive oil, coconut oil, egg yolks, and avocados- avocados are especially good in my opinion–tastes great with egg whites and hot sauce!
If you can fit it into your macros go for it. Personally, I could not do it as 1-2 TBSP turns it a half a jar pretty damn fast.

Yes, this happens a lot -can be a trigger food for a lot of people on a diet
i wont even allow peanutbutter in my house when i am cutting. It is a serious trigger for me. I stick with olive oil and avocados.

I’d assume it’s the fat + salt combination we were talking about on Max’s thread that makes it so binge worthy. I stay away from brands with added sugars, to try to avoid the sugar/fat/salt magic combination.
I limited my PB to 1 Tablespoon per day when cutting and did fine. It’s my usual afternoon treat.

Could be but, I love Skippy, Jif, Laura Scudders, etc. and I now make my own since I get peanuts for cheap. Peanut butter is just… AWESOME!!!

Mmmm, salt.
I accidentally bought a salt free jar of peanut butter and I didn’t like it. Had to use it in protein shakes just to get through it.
I’d have to agree with everyone who mention that if it fits with your macros, go for it. And to be sure you’re getting your fat from different sources.
That being said, I’ve never had luck with peanut butter on a cut. I don’t know why, but it’s always the case for me. I keep it to animal fats, avocados, and olive and coconut oils if I can.

I agree. Like others have mentioned though, it could be difficult to not gorge on PB since it is so calorically dense. Fat from fruits is better anyways
Peanut butter and Nutella.
Now we’re talking
OP, honey works better…
