Wends BJJ - Mean chokes, variations that involved fists in wind pipes. I was with a brand new guy for the first time. It was a little odd having to tell him how to keep base, and how to close guard. To think that was me like three months ago.
After drilling I kinda threw him to the wolves. He asked when he should start rolling after drilling and I said right now and pushed him at one of the guys. He came back thursday though so it can’t have been that bad.
I went out with the guys after class. We watched a video of Jacare teaching little kids BJJ. It was sacry and adorable. There are 12 year olds out there that can kick our asses!
So Thursday morning I got hit by a semi on the way to work. I’m fine, but the passenger side of my car is pretty much gone. He was getting on the highway and ‘just didn’t see’ me. I got to spend the day dealing with cops and insurance, it pretty much just sucked ass.
I waited by the side of the road with the cop for three hours waiting for the tow truck, and the cop saw my gi in the car and began talking about his fighting history. I got to hear about every bare knuckled bar fight he had ever been in, and then he had the balls to ask me if I’d ever want to roll with him. Ugh.
Once the car was towed I was stuck in the middle of no where. I went through my list of people I know in cleveland, and the only person I could get was coach. He actually managed to contact one of the guys and he came and picked me up. It was really nice to be able to depend on the BJJ guys. I have found my people.
I didn’t really want to go home so I ended up on coach’s couch watching tv until class.

Thursday’s training I was a little out of it for, but I was with a new girl, so it was a little giggly any way. She’s taken a few classes at the college coach does lessons at, but she must not have absorbed much info. I got the impression she was mostly doing it to hang out with the guys. So, we just played around since she didn’t know anything, and I was pretty much stupid.
We were supposed to be learning a sweep from closed guard and then finally the omaplatta. I showed her how to keep base and closed guard and then I rolled at 25% with her. It was a nice transition back to rolling since there was no pressure.
There was hair everywhere though, I’m going to have to figure out a way to keep mine out of the way. Cutting it short hasn’t worked, so we’ll see how growing it out goes.

That being said, I don’t think Bikram yoga and strength training go together. We did so much spine mobility work, I was shocked and in actual pain. There is a sequence where you kneel and put your forehead on your knees and then immediately go to putting the top of your head on your heels. This hurts, this hurts a lot. The instructor also kept telling us it was supposed to hurt, which I’m not sure is true. I’m used to muscle soreness and stretching, but this was just straight up pain. [/quote]
You shouldn’t be hurting when you do Yoga! there are so many people teaching Yoga these days its horrendous. Yoga is very watered down right now.
My sister has this woman teach her in our apartment 3 x week at 6am(whose a complete bitch btw-she trained at an ashram or some shit). I personally think she is out to make cash and thinks of her students second.
But my sister say’s it makes her feel great so i just shut up about it(my sis also lifts and has better overall development/fitness than me! She deadlifts, squats and benches too and whenever i see her in the gym the other guys look stunned at this little 5’3" gal sqautting more than them).

In the Bikram class they actually say you should feel a bit of pain. It’s akin to the whole pain is weakness leaving the body.
I’m finally feeling like a whole person again! The last few weeks have felt a bit like just being on survival mode.
I rolled hard for a good hour yesterday and it was great. Despite not rolling for two weeks I was able to hold my own against white belts. At first it was a little strange but then I got in my groove.
I’m going to aim for:
M- BJJ
Tues - Lift
W - BJJ
Th - BJJ
Fri - Lift
Sat - off
Sun - BJJ
I’m going to retry the whole 5x5 plan that I started before I fell apart.
We learned a takedown from guard yesterday, but I didn’t really like it, and the guy I was with didn’t want to be taken down.
We warmed up by rolling at 25%. I’m appreciating going 25% more now that I know some moves. I managed to pull off the sweep from yesterday too which was nice.
We then did grip fighting round. I kinda enjoy the grip fighting now that I know what I’m doing.
I did the takedowns, but decided against being taken down. I don’t want to take that much impact yet.
Then we rolled! It was great. I did five 5 minute rounds. The first two I played it safe, and just did the whole not get tapped thing. The next three I tried new things.
I rolled with Brandon those three rounds (the first kid I tapped) and he’s mean. Not a bad mean, but if there’s a nice way to do something and a not nice way, he picks not nice. So, I chose to be not nice. It was great!
I wanna see pch2 at a bar and pull a Peter Griffin and make her get into bar fights that I start. For those not familiar with “Family Guy” that would include me walking up to bikers and calling them Richard Simmons.
Yesterday we went over the five positions. It’s basically the sequence that takes you from side control to north south. The sequence is simple, but interesting because he pointed out what the person would need to do to escape and how to stop that.
It was cold (the first snow ) and I was cranky, so I didn’t roll. The class was all big blue belts, and there are days when I just don’t want to be owned.
I apparently don’t suck though; I got a stripe! Only miles and miles and miles to go.
S-L-O-W-L-Y… There are some things I’d like to improve/correct. I need to develop a bit more punching/kicking power and definitely some more kicking speed - just need to refine some technique. And my breaking is truy my Achille’s heel. That is simply a mental issue. Other than that it’s a matter of remembering everything. So, it’s a small step at a time. I am definitely capable - just old! :^)
