Patella Problem

Aloha,
I am having a problem with my knee and im wondering if anyone has any ideas/possible remedies before seeing el doctor, plus im assuming that someone else has had this problem…

essentially, my right knee cap just moves around at free will. ive had knee pain for about a month or so every once in a while. well, i decided to feel it out yesterday and found that my left knee cap is nice a stable, but when i play with my right knee cap, it drifts side to side w/ little to no effort. now, im no knee specialist, but something tells me this is not good, especially when throwing 400+ up on my back.

does anyone have any ideas? im assuming one of the tendons holding it or maybe quad or soleous is pulling too much in one direction (or not enough). as for now, im looking at getting a knee sleeve and doing lots of TKEs, while taking a week or 2 deload to let it rest a bit.

it doesnt really hurt to much, sometimes a dull pain, and every once in a while i struggle to straighten my leg until it “pops.”

if your one of those people who needs to see my lifting routine before diagnosing, i have a link to my log in my profile. and i dont want the “go see a doctor thing” its not serious enough for surgery, and they would only tell me to do whatever it is i am going to do anyway, just trying to prehab it i guess before i do damage it for good…

thanks,
nate

Google “dislocated patella”

Sorry to say, but you should get it checked out by an orthopedist to see if you tore anything.

would i have felt any sort of pop or anything? or could it just be a gradual thing? cuz i never felt a real indicator that started teh damage… i just kind of noticed it one day…

join the club. I dislocated my patella. It’s pretty loose now, but seems to be improving. I don’t know what a doctor will tell you. They may just tell you that you’ll outgrow it, it will go away, etc. If it’s painful, then rest and take fish oil. Before squatting or anything involving my legs I do vm exercises. Look up patella tracking.

ok thanks for the help so far. i guess it still ok to squat? im probably taking a week or 2 off anyway, so that should help i guess

do anything that doesn’t cause pain. Be careful about high impact activities like basketball though, that’s where repeat dislocations seem to happen easiest.

lucky for me im to lazy to do basketball. i just started up my deload week with some sled/prowler/hurdle mobility… feels ok, my vm is tight, so that should help it out right now
