Monday and Tuesday I started working out with a friend I work with. I haven’t been in a gym in a long time and my friend is 190 lbs - nothing but muscle. I stopped working out Tuesday night to grab some water and noticed my arms wont extend (lay flat) and there is a sharp pain in between my bicep and forearm.
This has made me miss work today because the severity has only increased. I feel as I have gotten arm surgery and I’m recovering from it (pain wise, the soreness). The pain is intense and I can not extend my arms to where they are straight. It feels as if it is really in the pit of my arm, opposite of my funny bone. My friend said he’s never heard of something like this and I’ve showed everyone the lump at the bottom of my bicep (on both arms) that wont go away.
I know when I was in the gym I was pushing myself to where I was telling my arms (brain telling muscles) to extend or contract (holding weights) and they gave out on me. Have I over done it at the gym not being back in a while (no I did not properly stretch)? I’m really asking for justification because no one else has heard of it and I feel alone (in a great amount of pain). Has this happen to any of you??? Thanks in Advance - Chris
I’ve been doing that, but I appreciate the response. My friend and I have never heard of this before. I’ve been sore all day and had to go to work, but luckily that didn’t make me do too much and working loosened my arms a bit. I feel ok but still sore. Hey is that Constantine? Thanks again

I was kinda hoping someone else would come along and give you expansive detail on what was wrong.
I have no more idea than you do, but I felt someone had to post the basics and get a response before someone else would post the intricate subtleties of the elbow joint.
you have just over done it man, i did that my first time back to the in a year and that was 2 months ago, it took about a week for mine to fade completely, probly not done as badly as urs but was still pretty damn sore.

This is called DOMS. It could last for up to a week. Next time take it easier. Start out with one or two sets per muscle group with light weight, around 15 rep maximum.
Gaining muscle is a gradual process, you can’t make up for lost time all at once.
