Owlie Takes Flight

I love it when I mix my oatbran with greek yogurt and flax and stir it really fast until it turns into a past and then while I’m eating it I think its a super cleansing past coming to blow through my bowels!!! RAR

I am sort of training my friend at work for a strongman contest at the beginning of October. I love him like a brother, but he is probably the most severe case of untapped talent I have ever seen. He has amazingly freakish strength without any sort of intelligent training program.

Maybe he will let me train him full time after this, which would be amazing for me and something I would do for free because I’ve decided there’s nothing more rewarding than coaching an awesomely talented athlete and seeing results. Anyway, we just did this lil medley I knocked together to improve his terrible conditioning. I did it with him for morale and because I could definitely handle more conditioning myself.

sled pushes-3 plates x1 length

farmers walks with 60lb dumbbells(i know, I know) x1 length

x4

And then we wrapped for today.

How is training going otherwise? (PT’ing, I mean)

Great!! I am about full on the amount of clients I can handle right now considering I’m a full time student. I also love LOVE it. Its really a great, wonderful, rewarding job and I really love all my clients and they treat me very well. I couldn’t be happier.

Hey there owlie-you’ve got some impressive numbers up there! Sounds great re: training with school. I’m in the same situation, I can’t imagine a better job to have while in school. Keep at it, woman!

The thing about working as a trainer, I am beginning to realize, is that a lot of it is simply keeping people moving and motivated. Not everyone is going to aspire to push the limits of their genetic potential for strength, physique, etc, but many of them really just want to lead better, healthier lives. Which is a feat in itself! Sometimes its good to get back to your roots and remember that stuff. Lol, I learn a lot from my clients and I hope they learn a lot from me too!

Owlie: What are your training goals now?

Currently, I’m working on regaining some strength while simultaneously losing bodyfat. I’m also including some conditioning and cardio into my weekly training. I need some more concrete goals but its extremely difficult for me to commit to anything. I feel like I need a meet or competition. Lol. I suppose I would like to see my maxes back up to my all time gym bests which are:
DL-270
squat-240
bench-160

If I could regain those maxes before the end of the year with a better physique (leaner and lighter) and with better mobility and conditioning, I would be happy.

However, this weekend probably set me back at least 2 weeks. Gotta tame the partying and eating a bit.

Those are some pretty good maxes

Thanks, ronda! I’m pretty sure that’s as far as I can get with linear progression style training without gaining a ton of weight for a tiny bit more strength. I’m gonna try and get back there within the next couple of months and then try to figure out a “smart” training program that’s more advance than bashing my head against a wall until my lifts go up.

morning:
45 min fasted cardio

Squats:
barx12x2
115x8
125x12x3

Bench
barx12x2
95x12x3

Deadlifts
135x5x2
155x3
205x2
215x5

barbell curls
55x3x10

ball knee in abs
15x2
13x1

leg press

chin ups

6x4-24
5x4-20
4x2-8

Heck, yes, I made 50 reps! Now to do it in less than 10 sets, lol

bench
125x5x2

triceps
