This anecdote by the original poster belies racial prejudice. To insinuate that because you heard a few black people in the “hood” have an asinine opinion on the SAT then a significant proportion of blacks in these environment share this misguided opinion is irrational. Your story is local and cannot be generalized, so it is either one of two things:
You want to tell a meaningless story, or you’re trying to make a generalized comment about a group of people based on something you heard from a few. The former indicates that your life is boring, the latter indicates that you are prejudiced.
I’m beginning to think that there are a lot of racist and bigoted people on this website. [/quote]
I’m thinking you didn’t do so well on your SAT.
Perhaps it is you that is prejudiced? Because I didn’t know “the hood” had a color. Ya see, where I’m from, the hood has many colors. We have white hoods in the Kensington section of Philadelphia, Hispanic “hoods” abound in North Philadelphia, East and North Camden - I could continue, but hopefully, without the benefit of 300 extra points, you can comprehend the foregoing.
Ignorance is ignorance no matter where it occurs, but it occurs it startling numbers among the impoverished. There is no color to poverty. Being poor has a high correlation to being stupid while race has no such true correlation.
Your conclusions are wrong I’m sorry to say.
I told a story that is as meaningless as any other story on GAL. It is not a generalized statement of anything other than poor people can be mighty uneducated and ultimately pretty fucking uninformed. My life boring? LOL you have no clue how far off the mark that one was. And as far as being prejudiced, I’m as prejudiced as the next guy when someone comes along and plays the race card.
And yes, there are plenty of racist and bigoted people on this web site (and the world) and you may certainly count yourself among them. I thought a different angry black man here would fall into my honey trap (I purposefully avoided race and purposefully used “hood” to bait the race card holders among us), but it was you instead.
