Overcrowded College Gym

Do us a favor and keep us updated. I’m curious to how many people are gonna fall off the wagon during the first month. Mebbe a weekly ‘gym crowding’ post.

I vote for this to be the next cool tip

Word to the spring break rush…it happens IMMEDIATELY after winter break is over, and it blows

thanks a lot guys i’ll keep you updated.

Yeah, I’m also a freshman and even worse I’m doing HFT with exercise pairings. It took me one trip to the gym at 3 pm to realize I was going to be working out either when the gym opened or when the gym was closing. When I go at 9:30 pm, there’s 1/4 of the people there compared to the afternoon.

Thank goodness for being an athlete. We get the gym from 2:30 - 5:30/6. The awesome thing is finishing up and being the only athlete left because most of the them don’t even lift in the last 1 - 1 1/2 hrs of that time.

Hey everyone, I am a college freshman and I thought I could workout in the afternoon but to my dismay the gym was so crowded that I decided I will need to go later. It looks like I will have to train at either the early morning or late night. If anyone has any experience/suggestions for this problem that would be great.[/quote]

i just graduated last spring. so i know what your talking about when your weight room is crowded. the worst times during school are:

  1. First few weeks
  2. 2 weeks after new years
  3. 2 weeks before spring break cuz you gotta get huge and ripped within that time period
Once you get your schedule settled, experiment with different times to train. My gym would be PACKED from 4-7 at school, so i trained from 245-4 and would get out just in time. As was stated before, if you dont mind lifting mid morning its usually a good way to go. I also used to train sometimes from 930-11 and then go straight to the caf for the postworkout meal. You will figure it out. Goodluck in school.

I have this problem as well. My college is not huge but it is a decent size. I go to the gym 5 days a week and there are sometimes where I feel like I will never get to work out the things I am wanting to. The only solution I found was trying different times of going, like you have.

And when that didnt work (I had the same problem last year) I looked in the phone book, many gyms will offer really good discounts to college students who want memberships. Also if that doesnt work last year I just made sure I went with a friend and we would either spot each other or use what we needed and when we were finished we would switch…this way we can get what we need. I hope this doesnt stay a problem for you the whole year. Good Luck!
