Over 60 Lifters / Body Builders

Hello,
I thought I’d start this thread to see who else is still it at and share stories and tips.
I’m a 64 yo weight lifter / body builder ,I’ve been at it since I was 19, I’ve laid off here and there over the years but I always come back to it, it’s seen me well through good times and bad times.

I currently lift 3 times a week (sometimes I’ll get on a run and lift 6 days a week you know upper body / lower body)
I also do a bicycle ride or power walk 3-4 times a week (5-6 mile bike ride on flat ground or a good 35-40 min. power walk)

I start most morning by doing 10 min. of Judo Strecthes that I picked up over the years,by the time the strecthing done the coffees ready, It’s always good , I feel I’ve earned by doing the stecthing)

I’ve been on 200 mgs of Test Cypionate a week since I was 59,prescribed by my doctor. Its made a huge difference in all aspects of my life.
(100 mgs on Mondays/100 mgs on Thursdays)

All in all I’m in good shape and enjoying life considering all the injuries I’ve had over the years including a full knee replacement.
Hope to hear from you.
Thanks John

Hi, John! Welcome to the Lawrence Welk crowd! Pretty inspiring story. Got any pix of your bodybuilding days?

Speaking of 60 yr old bodybuilders, check out this dude:

andreascahling.blogspot.ca

He’s been professional for half a gazillion yrs and competes in the Masters Olympia.

Wow you’ve been at it for 45 years? That’s impressive.

What do you think’s been the secret to your lifting longevity?

Welcome aboard.

I remember reading about him in the mags way back. Wasn’t he a vegetarian?

My coach and training partner is 73. Really inspiring. I’m impressed by your conditioning.

Thanks for saying hello.
Whats kept me at it is the quality it adds to your life I’ll never forget when I was 19 and putting on 40 lbs of Muscle (well some fat) the gym I started at focused on powerlifting and we used mostly Olympic weights, most of what we did is what everyone now calls Core exercises. After 6 months ( it didn’t take long) of heavy Bench Presses,Dead Lift’s and Squats I felt like I could walk through wall’s.
I’m a very physical person in just about everything I do work, hobbies, etc. and being strong and in shape, well theres nothing like it.
Thanks Again

That’s great John, that you got results so quickly. That’s a tremendous incentive to keep going.

Brett, I don’t remember much about Cahling, he wasn’t as prominent as the others. I know somebody claimed to be vegetarian, but personally can’t see how you can do it, unless you include milk and eggs.

65 y. o. in Ca. looking for good stories for success, failure and persisitance for the weelll past 35 crowd.

last years attempt at an “official” over 50 thread may not have fit marketings demographics or whatever BUT if folks like us are persisting for progress, we know by now who really has our back.
5’11" 175-180 lbs. I built my own landmine and TRX/chinup/weighted backpack intergrated no-sitting-down get-off your-butt-graybeard-keep moving and recover melange. On my front patio. Sweet, especially in even coolish weather.

Thanks for getting in touch, life is good.
Sorry I don’t have any bodybuilding pics.,I never competed a lot of people around me did though,I always loved weightlifting for the strength and good health it gave and continues to give me.
When I was in my 30’s I had a 385 lb bench and a 405 squat.
I checked out Andreas website, pretty cool,if you haven’t seen them check out the Expendables movies with Sylvester Stallone that’s him in those movies not a double I believe he’s 65 or 66 now.
Thanks Again

Thanks for getting in touch,I’ll never forget about 20 yrs ago going back to the gym I started out at and seeing a man I knew when he was around 40 and there he was it was his 65th birthday that day and there he was doing sets of 225 bench presses I always tell that story and how it inspired me.
The man died about 7 years later, but here’s the deal, were all going to die but while he was alive he was healthy,he enjoyed life, was active and happy right up til the end,so I say enjoy everyday, you get out of life what you put into it,you can sit around and cry and complain about things or you can have a good time and good friends.
Good luck
John

It’s good to hear from over 60 lifters. There should be a separate forum for us. 60 is 40 these days for many of us.

John, have you looked at Old Navy’s log? He’s over 60 and competes in bodybuilding.

Just turned 67, with Brother of 70 been training for over 50 years. It’s become a habit. Sometimes train with Honore Cironte in Tenerife who is 76 and last competed in Masters Olympia.

Oldtimer3, good hearing from you, I know a lot of guys out here in the San Francisco Bay Area who still train in their 60’s 70’s and a few into their 80’s.
A couple of friends of mine in their late 60’s were coming out of the gym in SF and caught a young guy trying to break into their car, they chased him down and slammed his head into the ground a few times and held him until the cops got there, the cops couldn’t believe they did that at their age.

Lurker coming out of the darkness to chime in here. My pop started me lifting 60 years ago when we moved from Philly to a farm in NJ. He took wooden broom handles, ran some nails thru each end and sank them in 3 different sized aluminum cans filled with cement. Soon,we graduated to the “hot new thing” sand-filled weights LOL. I consider myself a PowerLifter and work hard on health, fitness and strength. Lost my wife a few years ago to cancer and, thank God, I met my new Dutchess who is almost my age, I’m 71, and is just as dedicated in the gym, in the kitchen and with the tons of supps we take. We have a naturalist DOC who tests us extensively every 3 months and has her on Bio Identical Hormones and me on 100 mg of Test Cyp. Pushing 70 she can do 100 lbs in the CGBP on a Smith Machine and is on Youtube doing 2 sets of 20 situps holding a 40 lb DB on her chest. In the past week, despite still recovering (all naturally) from a painfully torn RC I have hit 5 reps @ 510 on the SM Rack Deadlift, 5 X 235 on the flat bench (my plan is to get back to 5 X 275 this year), 5 X 280 on the SM CGBP and today 5 X 260 and 3 X 280 on the SM Squats (done Atg). Wish our old farts gym in this huge retirement community (The Villages has over 92K retirees and still growing)would get in some Squat Racks and Power Racks but they are into wellness not strength. So…we are stuck with some flat and decline benches and a Smith Machine. C’est la vie! When I turned 71 last year I felt I was closer to 17 and the Dutchess and I are dedicated to keeping up this fitness committment til we turn a 100 or more. We just don’t see 40 or 50 as some terminal gateways in life but rather as doors to a long, healthy and active life. Cheers and best wishes to all of you younguns. May you too live long and prosper as the man said.

^^Is that you in the pic? Egads! How motivational you are!

Yeah that’s me. This pic is a year and a half old so this year when it warms up more and I can get a good tan I’ll try to update it. The Dutchess says I’ve improved a good bit, we’ll se LOL. It might be a few months.

Dutchman,
Hey good hearing from you,I consider myself more of a Weight Lifter also ,I do basic exercises that work everything with Olympic Bars and Weights and go medium to heavy depending on my mood…
Day 1: Lower Body
Squats
Dead Lifts
Calve raises

Day 2: Upper Body
Bench Press
Behind the Neck Press
Curls
Triceps Extensions
Reverse Curls

You look terrific in your picture ,I’m sure you feel the same way.
It looks we have the same exact body structure , as soon as the Super Bowl is over (thats when I start my New Years resolutions every year) I have to get busy and lose 25-30 lbs,all in all even a little over weight I feel great most days and when I see people my age who don’t work out and complain about their health it’s usually LOL,most of them won’t listen if you mention that they ought to try working out. Good Luck

Thanks BIJ. I use a 4way split training system. In an 8 day week, we lift one day and then often do core/cardio the next. Our splits are chest/legs/arms/back-shoulders. The advantage we find for both of us is that we can go hard as possible in the compound lifts we feature for each workout and then have a full week off to rest up the old bods. Add in that we take extra time between sets on the compounds. We have a really extensive list of supps we take but particular to our workouts are of course our hormone treatments test cyp and BIHR but also lots of whey, creatine mono and beta-alanine. It fuels our workout and our recovery ini each set. The results evoke lots of stares and questions whether in the gym, at the pool, on a dance floor or golf course. That gives us a chance to spread the word about strength and fitness being necessary mainstays of good health and longevity. Like you say some listen, most don’t.

You are right! Andreas is so incredible and such a huge inspiration!!! The dude is 60, freakin huge, insanely strong, ripped to shreds and I have been one of his biggest fans and supporters since the late 1970’s!!! Andreas was very big, hugely muscled and one of the leading bodybuilders of the 80’s and early 90’s! Very, very popular, hugely inspiring, incredibly handsome and had huge muscle “everywhere” if you catch my drift lol!

Very blessed with a large muscle between those huge quads that really filled out those trunks quite nicely that bodybuilders use to wear back then! Str8 muscle dude here into getting freaky huge and stronger than Superman who is almost 50, love my roids, the mind blowing muscle gains along with my strength and already high sex drive going thru the roof!!! Even though I love my wife and the women, there is nothing hotter to me than men my age, men in their 50’s, 60’s and even 70’s into muscle getting freaky huge, stronger than Superman, insanely hard/horny 24/7 and roiding to get even bigger and stronger!

Nothing wrong with juicing. If should be up to the individual and no one else…I know this isn’t the samething, but if a women can have an abortion,we can use steroids. Just because we choose to use them doesn’t mean you don’t have to work hard and lift heavier in the gym! You just get freakin huge and insanely stronger faster!! Men in their 50’s, 60’s and even 70’s into muscle who have wanted to be freaky huge and stronger than Superman since the age of 8 roiding up now and getting huge make me so hard and explode!

I know several huge, huge muscle men in their late 50’s and early 60’s who are so freakin strong and have the sex drive of 20 teenage boys lol and they are so hot and so huge they look like they could easily do squats with a 20 ton locomotive before crushing while the younger muscle wannabees piss their pants and unload in their jocks lol! These older dudes are ripped as hell, f–king huge and covered with veins the size of sewer pipes and like me, love women but love getting off with other muscle dudes, are a lot more aggressive, become big super bullies and make smaller dudes worship and service them while they tower over them flexing their much bigger and stronger muscles!

Making them tell them how much bigger and stronger the older, huge, roided up muscle dude is now and how tiny they are before the huge, roided, insanely horny, superman strong 50 something dude beats the wimp to a pulp, rapes the wimp and pumps his roid filled muscle seed inside the wimp before throwing him thru the wall and telling him, now go home and tell your wife Superman just raped her husband!!!

My apologies, can anyone tell I’m in the middle of a 16 week cycle, just back from the gym with my guns pumped so freakin huge it hurts to bend them but feels so good and no matter what the roid is or stack, the gear makes me so insanely hard/horny 24/7! I have gained a huge, thick 34lbs of pure muscle in the first two and a half weeks and my strength gains are out of this world!!! I am so into muscle, guys our age getting freaky huge and stronger than Superman that I get into and off paying for enough roids for guys my age, in their 50’s,60’s and 70’s to roid up with me, lift with me and help them become as huge, superman strong and insanely horny like I am! I’m real, all this muscle is real and so is my offer to provide the gear for guys our age to get f–king massive!!!

Back to Andreas, he is even hotter, more ripped, insanely stronger and growing even bigger now at the age of 60! He is so hot and has posted about 24 videos on youtube. Check them out! Even though he is very inspiring in his videos, he’s a big flirt lol and opened minded enough to know that he and those big muscles are turning both the men and women on and dudes are jerking off over him lol!

The only thing that would make him hotter is if he roids…he has to roid and that is very hot however, he will never admit he juicess and says he is natural. Sorry, a hot, ripped, thickly muscled, vein covered and incredibly defined guy into muscle, getting huge and stronger than Superman doesn’t look that huge, ripped or incredible at the age of 60 without roids or growth hormone! I hope he does!
