Yeah, you OLDER guys could use that. It might help you so you can keep up w/ us younger studs.
Sorry, lots of T in my system still. Somethin’ you guys lost a long time ago! Hahahahaha!
Just joking of course! I’m 28 & the age thing is all in ones head. Your as young as you feel. Look at one of my idols, Jack Lalanne! He’s a young bucking stud. He can out do all of us in any ab exercise. He’s the man!

But how will you be able to keep out the “I just turned 16 and been working out for 2 weeks, I found your site 2 days ago and I’m too lazy to read the articles but I wanna drop 20 pounds ft and gain 40 pounds muscle in 30 days and run track and stay at 140 for wrestling should I use MAG-10?” posts? ;][/quote]
You start talking about enlarged prostates. That’ll scare them young 'uns away.

Come back in 12 years and say that. When you are pushing your body past normal limits - it takes its toll. Trust me.
That’s not to say that any of us old farts feel old. There’s just a big difference between an old smart bull, and a young dumb one.
Any “over 35” advice from T-Mag would be great.
And I agree with whoever said it that it would benefit T-Mag to cater to us for we do have more disposable income.
Is there something I need to be prepared for when I reach 35? Do my nuts fall off? Does increased growth of hair in my ears keep me from being able to think during a training session? Let me know because some of these posts are scaring shit out of me.

That whole eat big and lift big to get big mantra you have? Two words. Slower metabolism.
Not if you keep them in your wife’s purse. At least that’s where she says she has 'em. She’ll get them out on most Fridays, and some Saturdays if the kids are gone, and on rare occasions during the Sunday afternoon ‘nap’.
I don’t have the ear hair problem , but danged if the nasal hair won’t make you gulp air through your mouth.

Your dick might drip a few drops when you’re done peeing. Seems the waterworks lose some etancheity with age.

On that one issue, I used to train with a lot of older guys (older as in in their mid to late 30’s…with one guy in his 40’s) simply because they seemed to have more experience, had continued training for years (which was inspiration to me alone), and didn’t seem to have that shallow mentality that some younger guys have in the gym. Either way, most of these guys still ate big. Most of them were clearly genetically gifted and I am talking about weighing around a solid 230lbs with one guy who looked like he was near perpetual contest shape…even when he quit lifting for 3 months one time and came back to the gym. He had lost no size.
Because of that, I am not one of the people who believes that metabolism slows down as much as what many give it credit for. I think activity is what slows down more than anything. This is also coming from someone who works with older people (truly older) and see the negative consequences of a sedentary life style.
While I have no doubt that there are physical and hormonal changes over the age of 35, I think some may give those more credit than necessary (aside from testosterone decreases that may warrant HRT). You may have to keep your diet cleaner, but I don’t know anyone who was eating like a horse and lean all of the way until 34 and then, BAM, they gain 50lbs of fat and can’t get it off. I would think it is much more gradual than that.
As far as training differently, I do understand that as many of those same guys used to make comments like, “I don’t go as heavy anymore”. they seemed to be able to maintain their muscle mass using a lighter weight than it took to build that size in the first place. That logic is why I always planned to reach my peak before the age of 35 so that if “maintenance” was a factor, I would truly have a decent amount of size to maintain.

31 here feel better than i was at 18, hope nothing changes in 4 years!
I agree with you Prof - it was more an attempt at humor than anything else.
However I do think that folks are living longer, and training heavier at older ages. It would be a very interesting study to see how metabolism, recovery, and heavy training protocols, is affected by the aging process.
That’s why I think that a 35+ forum would be a great idea. It may help identify a market of older guys/gals that want solid age/goal specific training advice, aren’t affraid to leave it in the gym, and have money to spend.
