Orange Juice?

This is for all of the T-Nation members who do not have the luxury of having a credit card (like me) and can not buy the wonderful good tasting, easy mixing Biotest Surge and Metabolic Drive products.

Now for the rest of us i no for me for example have to resort to shall we say lesser quality protein and weight gain shakes. So to get on with it, i’ve always found that my shakes have just tasted bad and did not mix well (i only used water or milk, nothing else in the shake).

So today i tried mixing my shake with extra pulp orange juice, not only did it taste delicious, it mixed extremely well? I don’t know why but there was nothing left at the bottom after i drank it or anything.

I prob wouldn’t mix it with something like chocolate vanilla shakes so prob just stick with other fruit kinds but ya just thought i would share that pointer, i was pretty surprised it worked so well for me.

I also mix my protein with OJ for my PWO drink…Question though, how many ounces of OJ should i use? I understand glucose levels are low after a workout and you need to replenish, and that simple sugars will aid with the transport of protein to repair the muscle. With that said, how much OJ would be optimal?

You’d be better off adding chocolate milk to that.

wouldnt the milk be slow absorbing?

No. Low-fat or fat-free chocolate milk is high in the insulin index.

I just use gatorade.

I was doing the same until I received replies to this post.

I now use gatorade but make sure you use the powdered form not ready made.
