Orange Juice Pre-WO?

Alright, so lately i’ve been trying to experiment with different pre-workout nutrition to figure out whats best for me. Anyways, i’ve been trying different juices because they are simple, fast acting carbs which is what you want before you work out, correct?

About 1-2 hours before i workout i will have some kind of high protein meal (eggs, steak, chicken) etc, so this is for immediately before i workout, like say 10-20 mins.

So, I thought about giving good old OJ a try. 2 cups, not a big deal. So, does this seem like a good idea? The only thing I was slightly worried about was the acidity of it, because post-workout i take about 5 grams of protein with my protein shake, and i wasnt sure if it would negate the effects of the creatine. So, for high energy levels and productive, muscle building workouts, does this seem like a good idea?

While I’m sure people will say it isn’t “optimal”, it’s a good deal of carbs right before you train. Carbs = Energy… so yes, I think that is a good idea.

if it feels good, do it! the word optimal is misused around here anyway… if OJ give you some juice for lifting, that’s good enough.

all summer i was making a shake of OJ, powerdrive, and vanilla whey/casein blend as my preworkout shake. I felt great during my workouts. now i’ve been doing powderdrive, a finibar, and yogurt w/ oats before and saving the OJ for on my way back from the workout.

and about the acidity, even though OJ is an acid, citrus has an alkalizing effect on the body.

Thanks for the replies everyone.
