Guys- I am on a limited budget so it would be hard for me to order Surge on a regular basis. How much of a difference do you think it would make between using surge and using like a cheap fruit juice and some maltodextrin mixed with whey protein and some BCAA? Thanks.

My friend used a cheaper surge like product for quite some time before trying some surge during a sale, and he has yet to go back.
I’ve personally tried “home brew” Surge before but I just honestly didn’t see quite the same results and didn’t like the taste, however my recipe might have been missing something…
This doesnt really have to do anything with your question but it is about surge so I figured I’d post here. I don’t know if you all agree but surge doesnt taste great and I was wonderin if you guys who take it mix it with anything besides water or have any tricks other than just grinnin and bearin it.
Man, if you don’t like the taste of Surge you must not like the taste of angel food cake! Surge is so good I get tempted to throw back a cup even on my of days. Everyone is different of course, but most people agree Surge tastes awesome. I did try a homemade version once and could barely get it down. Homemade puts the ‘ass’ in nasty!
As for the original question, something is always better than nothing, so do the best you can. A plain MRP - whatever was on sale - is what I used to use before Surge came along. Didn’t get Surge results, but it beat nothing at all.

It’s really just going to come down to you giving it a try and see what you think. When the budget is tight I make sure to only use Surge with my more intense workouts to help with recovery and spread a bottle of the stuff further.

I typically dilute it with 1 litre water and 5 g creatine and a scoop of Gartorade, tastes fine imo.
Hey, Speed well surge is the best. But when I am low
on cash I go to J B homemade recovery drink.
It is 2serving of gatoraid 1 serving of whey protein.
It about 66carbs 25 pro and 369 cals. Hope this

Just to add to the advice you have allready received, much of which is great, I just wanted to add I would ditch the fruit juice PWO and go with gatorade or the like. Something that the sugars arent fructose. You want fast acting carbs and fructose has to be processed by the liver befor going to any muscle replenishment.
Then when the budget gets back go for the surge, we all get strapped for cash @ times.

You could try taking your BCAA, a protein shake and for your carbs, using 2-3 pieces of fruit, like banana,apple and strawberries, or orange.
I used this for quite a sustained period during a cutting phase and did not see any muscle loss. IT worked for me. The carb sugars in fruit are really good.
Hey guys… when you talk about not getting the same results… what are you referring to? The way you feel the next day or what? I can honestly not tell a difference between surge and my homebrew which is very similar to surge except for the BCAA ratios and the fact that I use whey concentrate in place of the whey hydrosolate. I make my mixture with a 50/50 maltodextrin/dextrose… with enough whey to make the carbs to protein 2 to 1. Then I throw in a scoop of my optimum BCAA. Seems to work fine because I am HUGE! j/k… but seriously I don’t notice a difference.

Phil- It wasn’t like the 100 percent fruit juice, it was the cheap tampico stuff you can buy for like 89 cents for a big jug. Do you think that that would be high glycemic? thanks
I really cant say it just depends on what is used to sweeten it.
Sorry I cant tell you more. If it is fake fruit juice sweetened with dextrose, like kool aid or something give it a go.

Try using dextrose and protein isolate-2:1 ratio. It doesn’t taste as good as Surge but dextrose is like 2 dollars a pound and isolate can be found reasonably priced on the 'net. :]
I put it in with my PWO protein, a chocolate Myoplex. tastes terrific with 2.5 cups of skim milk and 2 scoops of Surge. I just wish they made bigger conatainers so I wouldn’t have to keep buying it all the time.
just tried surge for the first time today…taste awesome and i put unflavored swole in there…def had a great workout…so i am sold on …i have been using dext whey isolate and malto normally…

kinda putting up my own question… I usually have a 30g whey protein shake with 3g creatine and 5g glutamine… I’m getting some maltodextrine to add to this for fast acting carbs should i feel a big difference?
I like the Gatorade and Whey mix also. Orange Gatorade and Chocolate or Vanilla Whey powder mix well together believe it or not.
