Opinions on Alpro Soya

OK, so I’m trying to come up with snacks between my meals. Problems are that I’m lactose intolerant and react badly to anything with milk or cheese, and that I work in a clinical environment, so I can’t really sit down and munch away on a sandwich.

I.e. a 500ml glass contains 175 cal- 17g protein, 0.5g carbs and 11g fat (of which only 2g is saturated).

Opinions??

Personal Opinion: Stay the fuck away from soy. Get some beef, pea or hemp protein, and make your own shakes. Eat more nuts.

Thanks. Is that personal opinion based on any proven studies, or more on ‘hearsay’ about associated gyno side-effects?

For the gyno side-effects, google ‘Genistein’ and ‘Daizden’, the latter may be a typo, these are the supposed compounds in soy that have the estrogenic effects.

My opinion, is that assess your degree of lactose intolerance. I am also intolerant, but a single lactase enzyme can prevent any side-effects, my father is not so lucky, thus he avoids damn near all dairy (and I know when he hasn’t, despite the amount of lactase)

If it is still a problem, then maybe get a healthy snack alongside some beef liver tabs, that would ensure amino acid content despite what you choose to have that day.

Edit: and to follow, some anecdotal evidence for the estrogenic effects of soy. I have gyno (it’s genetic, cry), but am kind of thankful since my cone titties are a useful marker for anything’s effects on my estrogen / testosterone profile; For example, after a week on Rez-V, my gyno has subsided a lot, about 6 months ago I tested out soy (at 20g a day of powder), and god damn I could stab people. Haven’t touched soy since.

But in more detail: All the “dudes” I see that live off of soy, pretty much are walking vagina’s.

They’re OK in small amounts, but then again, there’s so many other better sources of protein that you can go for.

I know a guy at work that drinks soy milk with his coffee throughout the day. I’ve started to recommend a sturdy sports bra to keep his tits in place. (Yes, it’s that bad.)

And if personal internet opinions aren’t good enough, I recommend you read the following book.

There are some sites that sell everything from beef protein powder to hemp.

Pick something other than soy.

There are several articles on this very site elucidating (I never get to use that word, so BAM, there it is) the negative properties of soy.
