Shelby is awesome… it’s great working with him in the offseason

im actually making very noticeable progress week after week…

before him it kinda felt like I was just trying to suck my own dick all day

Has he been keeping you fairly lean? I got soft as hell when I was using him “off-season.”

I worked with Chad Waterbury a few years ago and he really got me in great shape mostly through cool program design. He was not very available though.

I’ve been working with Dean Somerset this year trying to get rid of nagging pain that I’ve had for a long time. After three months, the pain is gone. Dean responds to any questions within a day at most, listens and then gives me what I need rather than what I want. If you have an imbalance, pain or mobility problem, I would recommend him without reservation. Now that my problems are clearing up, I’m going to ask him to help me put on a little size.

I’ll bump this thread and give my input.

I have been working all year with a buddy of mine who I went to school with since elementary school. He trains quite a few people doing physique/bodybuilding/figure. One of his guys just won the Lightweights at the NPC Emerald Cup as well as the Middleweight and Overall at the Empire Classic.

He has helped me recomp quite a bit and now I’m slowly trying to lean out while adding quality mass. I’m about 52 weeks out from my first bodybuilding show, so I’m very hopeful what he can do with me. He is always available to answer my questions. I mostly talk to him on facebook. Very cheap price for training and nutrition. R.A.W Fitness is his training company if anyone is interested.

I definitely will a little closer to the show. I’m taking things really slow right now so it wouldn’t be too interesting lol.

I’ve worked with JM, although I wouldn’t consider it online since we are both in Columbus. I was thinking of checking out either AV since his prices for a pro are relatively cheap or Aaron Clark since he is offering online training too

yeah im staying lean, feels good man

Shelby is about making slow, steady, quality progress… because he knows what health dangers await those who “bulk up” and get way too heavy in the offseason.

I really like his approach

I missed this before. Dean Somerset is a fucking HERO. I emailed him last time I fucked my back up and he was so incredibly helpful, despite the fact I wasn’t even paying him. He’s a really good guy and sure knows his stuff.

If anyone needs a corrective program I’m 100% sure he’d fix you up in no time.

Idk man, he got me very soft in my “off-season.” This is why I’m so surprised. I even told him I wanted to keep fairly lean. It’s also why I’m afraid to hire him again now.

Who is JM AND Skip? Are they able to consult with people out of state? Any info would help. Looking to start competing this summer

John Meadows and Skip Hill. John writes a lot of articles for this site, and has his own forum under “training”, John Meadows Coaching. They both do out of state coaching. Check out Zraw’s contest prep thread in the bodybuilding forum, he is one of John’s clients

I can really give a glowing recommendation for Josh Bryant, been working with him for the last 6 months.

Availability: Josh responds within 12 hours 99% of the time. I’m pretty sure he’d respond even faster if we were in the same timezone.

Pricing: Definitely good value for money, you get a weekly google document with all the recommended weights/reps, in the columns next to it you fill in the reps/weights you did this week. At the end of the week you tell him you’re done and he updates it for the next week. This really helps with keeping the focus on progression in the gym! 4th week is a deload week and after that you get a new program for the next 4 weeks!

Type of training: Lots of heavy compound lifting, every day is based around one main lift ( bench / squat / OHP / dead ), pretty high volume too! You’ll definitely get stronger and alot bigger when training with him.

Nutrition wise I’m doing my own thing, but I’m pretty sure he can hold his own here.

I can give another very positive review for Shelby. His response time is extremely fast.

I’m using him to prep for a mens physique show in 2 weeks and he has gotten me ripped to the bone without really any suffering. Never did more than 30 min of cardio per day and never cut carbs lower than 50g. Started Dec 26 at 215, 13.5% BF (DEXA) and now sitting at 185 right about 5% BF.

So I’ve lost about 21lbs of fat and 10 of water/bloat maybe a pound or two of lean since I stopped doing legs. Will be using him for my offseason, trying to put on 12-15lbs of stage weight in a year.
