One Arm and Handstand Push-Ups

i took 2 weeks off for vacation, every other day i did 5 sets of one arm pushups, 5 sets of handstand pushups, and 5 sets of weighted pullups. when i came back, my benchpress had increased by 10 kg. what do u guys think of these?

I think it’s a nice progress.

Imho there are two possible reasons, why your max increases that much:

  1. You didn’t train hard enough with weights, so the bw exercises were more taxing on your body and therefore the strenght improvement.
  2. But more likely you just needed some time off the iron to regenerate fully. The vacation was two forced deload weeks.

However, I am more interested what you did to keep your legs strong? I can’t think of anything else than pistols.

Greetings, Andy

hey andy,
i think the 2 weeks were a deload, since i used to bench 2wice- 3 times per week, but i think the exercises contributed a lot, coz increasing from 125 kg for 2 reps, to 135 kg for 2 reps is pretty hard. i used full ROM repetitions, each set to failure.
for legs, i used to do 10*100m sprints on the beach, on off days from training.

sexy
