As per usual, my first round felt like death. I felt pretty good by the end. My hands are pretty rough these days. I take pride in that.

I was apparently holding way more water weight than I thought. I have dropped a significant amount of water weight in the past 5 days and it is visibly obvious. As far as overall changes I can say that I feel more compact. I’m experiencing the same level of gravitational pull, but taking up less space while doing it. Lol. Quite literallyeverything feels stronger. I have 3 workouts left and I’m pretty sure this is something I will run again in the future. I would like to be able to complete it with the 35 lb KB as prescribed in the program. I started at 25 and have gotten myself to 30 for all 5 rounds. I plan to get at least a few rounds in with the 35 before the end. Either way I am seeing this entire thing as a victory.

I’m actually very happy that I ran this program. It’s like a fast track to a stronger body. I took a few extra days off in the middle there, but all in all I’m pretty proud of the work I put in and the results I’ve gotten out. 1,500 more swings and then it’s on to something new. I’m excited to see where S&S takes me.

@alex_uk many thanks, I do love shiny things. :light_blue_heart:

Today is a good day.

I don’t know the program fully, but is this a typo or is there some test at the end? My math says you only have 1500 more swings.

And it’s awesome to read all the positive things you’re feeling - especially after seeing the pain and discomfort you experienced at the beginning.

And I wanted to go back to this:

I’m trying to find this for myself but dropping deadlifts and back squats from my program have definitely helped. I think my heavy clean pulls might push it a bit, but it’s a good trade-off - I still get a little but of pulling but have significantly less discomfort.

Enough about me. I wanted to highlight this for you. You’ve dropped some movements temporarily and your body is happy about it. That’s definitely worth thinking about as you move forward.

All these great programs include certain barbell lifts and we just go with it and tell ourselves that something is wrong with us if we’re in pain. The reality is that maybe we don’t need to do those lifts in the first place.

I was just checking to see if anyone was really reading. :joy::joy: Total typo. I fixed it.

I can tell you for sure that my lower back is much happier without the deads and squats. And I have way less trouble with my elbow when I don’t do pull-ups. I really do like the KB work and I think I will probably rotate some BB work in as well. I’m thinking I might put some emphasis on the Olympic lifts. I’ve always enjoyed cleans. I think changing things around is good for my body overall.

It’s sometimes hard for me to remember that the reason I’m doing this is to feel better. If I want to feel like shit with painful knees and back I can do that while drowning myself in cookies and watching TV. I get a bit obsessed with chasing numbers and forget that maybe at 47 there is a better way.

I needed to read that.

I do things because I want to be strong and capable but sometimes I realize I’m just in constant pain or discomfort. But I’m getting better! I just need to keep this in mind as I make plans for my next training cycle.

I think my favorite thing about this forum is the amount of times I have thought that exact thing while reading someone’s log. It is a fantastic place for advice and perspective. It’s honestly kept me wanting to keep moving forward.

I think, the group of us on here…are really just a bunch of geriatrics trying to convince each other, that we are not geriatrics.

Maybe… BUT we are above average geriatrics. And I don’t know about anyone else, but I’m doing much better than a lot of people who are much younger than me. I have a doctor at work who tells me all the time that no matter how much I take care of myself, the death rate is still one to one. I just tell him that he is right, but I hope to have better golden years than most. I remember having to do an ultrasound on a guy who was 92. I went out to the waiting room to get him and was irritated because there wasn’t a 92 year old guy out there. When I called his name this man who looked about 65 - 70 stood up. I was seriously blown away. When I asked him what he did to stay so young he said he golfs regularly and never uses a cart. That is what I want to be. The woman who’s age you would never be able to guess. I wanna have the healthiest corpse in the crematorium.

That’s a pretty common thing I hear a lot when I need a medical professional.
“doing great for my age”, or “Much better shape/better health, better whatever than people much younger”.

Hear it Alot…I’m not complaining. Strong and healthy Geriatric. Haha.

I’m still aiming for this! Dude moves better than most 40 year olds and is strong than 99% of them to boot!

My family doctor is always amazed at my husband and I. I’m 47 and he is 51. We take no medications. That is a very strange thing around these parts. Lol.

Yes! This is what I want!

Yep. Most people my age, or even lower (I’m almost 43), are on blood pressure, cholesterol, or have diabetes etc, Gout, you name it.

He I am, the weird one in the street.

I’m the weirdo, with no meds :joy:

Very good session. Not much to talk about here. 1,000 to go.

A successful day today will make a solid week of responsible nutrition. Then I can move on from stringing days together to stringing weeks together. Today is my day.

Today is a good day.

Edit: Man, I’m just full of typos today.

:rofl::rofl: logging too soon after my workout. Not enough O2 to my brain yet.

That’s okay: I can’t count reps past 10, so I have no idea how I made it through the 10K Swing Challenge, haha!

The end is in sight and you’re crushing it!

Thank you. I’m actually pretty proud of this challenge. Just completing it is pretty exciting, but I actually feel good this close to the end. Feels like a pretty big victory to me.

I actually copied your way of logging with the 1,000/10,000. I’m really glad I did because otherwise I would be so lost on where I am. Lol
