Once more with feeling

Thank you. I’m actually pretty proud of this challenge. Just completing it is pretty exciting, but I actually feel good this close to the end. Feels like a pretty big victory to me.

Dan John talks about the value of stringing together wins. Small victories in consistent perpetuation establish a consistent habit of achievement, which can manifest into larger and larger victories in a snowball like effect.

Your day to day consistent eating is soon to be a week, which can lead to multiple weeks, which can lead to multiple months. Conquering a challenge like the 10k swing makes us the person who conquers challenges. It shapes our identity, which is such a big part of achieving fitness outcomes. It’s not “can I do this”, but “can I become the person who does these things”.

Which is why New Year’s resolutions fail. People set the terms of success so high. “I’m going to go to the gym 6 days a week and only eat kale”, and on day 2 they’ve skipped the gym and ate a donut and they’re a failure. “I’m going to get to the gym 3 times this week and only eat fast food twice”: much easier terms of victory.

You were a champ before you started this: now you have even more proof.

That is a rather large compliment. I appreciate it very much. :light_blue_heart::light_blue_heart:

I think you are pre-geriatric until you start drunkly challenging people 30+ years younger to push up competitions

You’re making a pretty big assumption about @wiseman83 here…

I had a lovely walk with a friend today. Good for my physical and mental health. My food was good today. That’s a full 7 days. Now we start week 2.

Today was a rest day. It was a good day. I ate well and enjoyed my day at work. I have discovered that pickles are fantastic. I’ve been eating one when I get home from work. It curbs my appetite until I can get dinner made. I also had a pretty exciting moment when I discovered that the new scrubs that I bought which were too small (a new brand, purchased online, never tried on) now fit. So it would appear that my slightly higher weight is in fact due, at least in part, to the addition of lean muscle. I am feeling very strong and very optimistic. This is probably the most positive that I have felt about my nutrition in a long time and I am truly loving the training. To be fair maybe less so when I’m right in the middle of it, but I am definitely loving how it is making me feel. I like feeling like there isn’t much that I can’t do.

Today is a good day.

10,000 Kettlebell Swing Challenge

9,500/10,000

Pavel warm-up

3 Rounds 30 lb
2 Rounds 35 lb
10 swings
Squat x 1
15 swings
Squat x 2
25 swings
Squat x 3
50 swings
2:30 rest between rounds.

3:13.99
3:12.19
3:24.51
3:38.53
3:41.34

I decided that I wanted to get at least some swings in with the 35. I went for round 4 figuring that it would give me at least one round with the option of 2 if I wanted it. I got done with round 4 and figured I had no shot at completing round 5 with the 35. So I went ahead and did round 5 with 35. I’m glad I did. I would have been disappointed in myself had I not at least tried. Tried and accomplished. :tada:

I slept in today which set me behind but that’s ok. Just gotta get moving.

500 swings to victory!!!

Today is a good day!

The “pickle gambit” works. My wife and I always have a jar of baby dills out to knosh on when we feel the need to eat something.

I’ve been using extra sharp cheddar cheese. Might need to switch to pickles when I start eating normal amounts of food again. I can easily eat my meal’s worth of calories in cheese while I’m cooking the actual meal.

High five! :raised_hand:

We’re hosting the State Music Festival today so no students and half a day of professional learning and half a day of being a room monitor. They told us to wear pants and I did not plan for that (didn’t see that part til this morning). I’ve been losing weight so thought I’d try my favorite pair of gray Dockers (haven’t been able to wear them in awhile), and low and behold they fit with room to spare!

Your success is contagious!

This is why I can’t have cheese or raisins when I get home. I eat 700 calories then eat my dinner.

Nice!!! Such a good feeling. Strong work!!

It is depressing and quite possibly a criminal offense how small one ounce of cheese actually is…and the amount of calories in it. I made the mistake of weighing one of my standard slices and it is not one ounce!

:rofl: I have eaten an entire block of cheese in one sitting on more than one occasion. I also have a love for saltine crackers with cream cheese. I could put a whole sleeve and and entire block down without thinking twice. There is a reason that I spent a large portion of my twenties obese. I think cheese played a larger role than I care to admit.
